St. Patrick's Day in Dublin is
going- to be a busy one for the
teachers and children of the St,
Patrick's school. While it will
'be St. Patrick's Day in Dublin
the day actually will be Thurs-
day March 16th when the child-
ren from Kindergarten up, to
grade 8 will' take part in a con-
cert.
The concert will be held
Thursday-afternoon with' an en-
core the same night.
The program is an interest-
ing one which includes songs,
dances and plays. All with the
St. Patridk's Day theme in mind.
The World Day of Prayer was
held in St. Patrick's Church, Dub-
lin with a record attendence. St.
peter's Lutheran Church, Brod-
hagen, and the First Lutheran
Church of Logan and. St. Colum-
ban Church along with S. Pat-
rick's Church of Dublin were
well represented.'""
The theme of the service was
"All Joy be, Yours." Mrs. Joe
Delaney welcomed the guests and
introduced the guest speaker,
Miss Francis Conway of Strat-
ford. Miss Conway is parish-.
co-ordinator of St. Joseph's Par-
ish, Stratford. She outlines the
course in Religious Education
in the Stratford Schools. Miss
OBITUARY
JOSEPH O'CONNOR
Joseph' &Connor of Scarbor-
ough,- formerly of St. Columban,
passed away on Tuesday,
March '7th in his 85th year. He
is survived by a daughter, Mrs.
James Molloy (Sheila) and four
granddaughters of Scarborough
and a sister, Mrs. John. M.
Eckert, Seaforth. Funeral Mass
was at St. John's' Church, Scar-
borough.
Conway graduated from McGill
University of Montreal majoring
in. Theology. From there she
taught several years in the Uni-
versity and Senior High School.
She also spent some time in the
North West Territories., Her
address related to Joy. Joy,
that nature provides us with,
joy that people can give 'to one
another, by just being friendly
and saying, "hello." Mrs. Del-
aney led the prayers and thank-
ed the speak-er and the organist,
Mrs. Helen Nagle. Coffee and
dessert were served following
the benediction.
The sixth meeting of the Dub-
lin Colleens No 1 was held 'at''the ,
home of Mrs. Bob Cronin. After
the 4-H pledge was recited, Col-
leen Rowland, president read a
letter from the Perth Home Ec-
onomist, Miss Jo-Anne Hender-
son. Delaine O'Rourke read the
minutes of the leSt"meeting and
Karen Cronin gave _the treasur,
ers report. The roll call was
answered with an up to date re-
port on the girls record books.

A large number of local resi-
dents have attended the Ice Cap-
ades in. Kitchener or London in
the past two weeks.

The wedding dinner was held at
the Golden Bamboo Restaurant
and the reception followed a
Lakeside. The newly married
couple will 'reside ' in Stratford.
On Sunday, Mr. Dalton Hinz'
accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Lav-
ern Wolfe to visit Mr. and Mrs.
Sam Wolfe.

A Blyth man was killed but '
three children escaped serious
injury when a car hit a patch
of ice on Highway No. 4 and
struck 'several guide posts Sat-
urday at noon.
The driver, Bruce Blackwell,
45, of Main Street, Blyth died
of internal injuries in Clinton
Public hospital at p.m. Sat-
urday.,
The passengers were Derek
Holmes, 12, and his sisters, Deb-
orah 14, and Heather, 8. Their
parents are Mr. and Mrs. George
Holmes of RR 2, Clinton. Police
said Derek and Deborah had
minor injuries and were -treated
at Clinton Public Hospital and
released.
