UNITED CHURCH WOMEN
The United Church Women
met Tuesday evening with forty-
nine ladies present. A smorgas-
bord supper was served.
Following the supper .Mrs.
Olive Baker welcomed all and led
the worship service. She read
"A Message for the New Year",
after which the first two verses
of .the hymn' Behold,, a stranger
at the Door" was sung. Mrs.
George • Wilson gave reading
entitled "The Hospitable -Door"
after which the laSt two verses •
of the hymn were sung. -Mrs.
Baker continued reading about
doors and MrS. William Spence,
Mrs. D'Vvid Williams, Mrs.Dun-
Can McNaughton and Mrs. Augtin
Timms gave readings. on (,The
Door of Lips, Hope, Faith and
Opportunity" respectively. Mrs.
Fred Parkinson closed the wor-
ship with pyayer.. •
The president, Mrs..,James
Miller, conducted the business. It

Wilkinson's T.G.A. was sold recently to Bruce Heolscher of Georgetown and the neW owner
took possession last week. Mr. Hoelsche: , the sen of Mr. and Mrs. John Hoelscher, George
Street, Seaforth, began his business career in the same I.G.A. store, he now has purchased. Here

dary' schools in Ontario were
already using these,new organ-
izational patterns and the re-
maining 20 per cent would have,
to adopt the plan...in September
19'72. -
Mr. V inter stated that
trustees and parents should pay •
particular attention to ' the
secondary school calendars in
order to ascertain' if and to
what extent the credit system
and its philosophy is being im-
plemented.
The meeting concluded with
the board meeting as a
committee of the whole.

Mr. V.intar stated that this
change in basic philosophy would
permit students • to take courses
best suited to their interests,
abilities and goals for the future.
As well, the new credit system,
with individualized time tables,
would allow each student t) work
at hi s own level in appropriate
courses.

Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Jeffrey of
Thames Road. -
Mr, and Mrs. Ira McCurdy
and Mr;, and Mrs. Reg. McCurdy
were in Chatham on Wednesday
and attended the funeral of the
former's brother, the late Victor
McCurdy:
green brocade dress trlipmed
with gold with black accessories.
Her corsage was red roses. The
groom's mother assisted wearing
a deep purple_crimplene dress
with white trim and black acces-
sories. Her corsage was yellow
roses. The head table was
centered with a beautiful four
tierred wedding cake made' by
the bride's mother. Miss Carol
Steepe, Stratford, assisted the
bride by handling the signing
of the guest register and wedding
' gifts.
Following the reception the
weddifigw. party and guests
returned to the bride's parents
home for the evening.
, For the honeymoon to North-
ern Ontario the bride chose a
'deep purple orlon knit hot pant
dress and fur trimmed coat. She
carried a purple suede sh,oulder
bag,
Mr. and Mrs. Southgate will,
reside at R.R,1, Clinton.
Prior to her wedding the
bride was honoured by showers
given her by Judy Jeffery and
Brenda Hodgert; Jean and Agnes
Leiper for'the comrhunity and by

and candelabra for the candlelight
wedding at which Betty Jean
MacGregor and Paul Murray
Southgate exchanged .wedding
vows and rings. Rev. McDonald
officiated at the double-ring
ceremony on January • 8, 1972:
The bride is the eldest
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Gordon
MacGregor. The groom IS the
son of Mrs. 'Elsle-Southgate and
the late William Edward South-
gate, of Seaforth. •
The bride, givea,In marriage'
by her father, wore a floor-length
white velvet .eeire with empire
waist -accented by bows, long
• sleeves and a chapel train. 'She
wore a blue garter given to her
by her aunt and an heirloom
locket, . Her full-length veil was
held in 'place by a tiara crown
and she carried a white Bible
with a single purple . orchid
trimmed with white daisies and
white streamers.
Miss Ruth Anne MacGregor,
sister of the bride was maid of
honour. Bridesmaids were Miss
Carol Anne Southgate, Seaforth,
sister of the 'groom, and Mrs.'
Mary. Anne Smith, Dublin,. friend,
of the bride. All were goWned.

was the groomsman. Ushers.
were Mark , Smith; Dublin, and
Bill Southgate, brother of the
groom. Also in attendance ,were
the bride's grandfather, Mr. J. B.
Muir and grandmother, Mrs. Viva
MacGregor and the grooM'S
grandmother, Mrs. W. J. Murray.
Wedding music was stippliet
