The Dublin Woman's Institute held their annual Christmas Card Party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Burchill. There were nine tables with three extra peo- ple. The prizes for the evening were won by Tem Butters, High Man; Joyce Wickie, high ladies; Lois Rooney, low ladies; Alvin Ahrens , low mens. The lucky cup was won by Elsie Pridham. After the prizes were distrib- uted a social hour was spent with lunch being served. Mr. and Mrs. Don Meugge, Walkerton were visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred O'Rourke on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Clem Tiede and daughter, London, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Tiede, Kitchener were vis- iting with Mre and Mrs. Joseph L. Ryan on Sunday. Mrs. Kennedy moved to her apartment in Sea- forth on Saturday: Miss Mary McGrath,Toronto, spent the week end with Mrs. Kennedy and will remain for a time.' Mrs. Albert Cronin spent a few days in Kitchener recently with Mr. and MrS. Dave Regier. Mr. and Mrs. L. Smith and children, Acton, spent tie week- end with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cronin. Myles of Ottawa and Miss Marilyn .Hillis of Tillson- burg visited Miss Mabel Tuirn- bull at Kilbarchan last week. Harry Kruse of parry Sound ' is spending the winter with re- latives here. Mr, and ,Mrs. D'Orlean Sills spent the week end in Elora, the guests of Mr. and Mrs: Geo. Shepherd. MRS.W1LLIAM. G. MCSPADDEN Mrs. William G. MeSpadden). R.R.1, Seaforth, died in Strat- ford General Hospital on Tues- day following' a shOrt illness. She was 75. Born in McKillop, she was the former Mary Anne McKee, daughter of the 'late Mr. and Mrs. George McKee. She attended school at S.S. No. 10 McKillop and following her marriage at Winthrop, June 25, 1927, the couple farmed in that township. Mrs. MeSpadden was active in Cavan United Church, Win- throp. She was a life long member of the progressive Con- servative party. Predeceased by her husband In 1968, Mrs. MeSpadden is sur- vived by two sons, George Earl, McKillop and Rev. W. Leslie McSpadden of Cayuga. Resting after 2 p.m. Thurs- day at the G.A.Whitney Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted by Rev. M. E. Reuber on Friday at 2 p.m. Temeorary entombment will fol- low in Pioneer Mausoleum with interment later in Maitlandbank Cemetery. Gifts to the M and S fund of Cavan United . Church, Winthrop, are suggested in lieu of flowers. ELGIE PATTERSON Word has been received by Mrs. R. K. McFarlane, Seaforth, of the passing of her brother, Elgie Patterson on November 25th of Blue Ridge, Alberta. He was born at Enderlin, No.Dak„ the eldest son of the late Johp Patterson and Jennie Cuthill and was in his 74th year. Coming east from Dakota with his mother and other members,of the family, he went to school here for a year and then returned to Alberta where he has since made his home. He is survived by a family of twelve children and by his two sisters, Mrs. W. C. Bennett and Mrs. R. K. McFarlane of Seaforth. Two brothers, Claude and Vincent, predeceased him. Interment was made in Blue Ridge, Alta. Unit 3 of Cavan U.c.w, held their Penfiy Contest dinner in the basement of the church with Mrs. John Boyds' team being treated by the losers on Mrs. Mervin Godkin's team. Following 'the dinner a short meeting followed. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cowan, Midland, visited over the week- end. with Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hillen. Mrs. Les Dolmage and Mrs. Robert Hulley attended a Tupper- ware demonstration at the home of Mrs. Peter Bisback, Hensall. Several men of the commun- ity are up north moose hunting this week. Mrs. Ruth Ann Sieinon visited, the weekend with Sandra Hulley and attended the 4H achievement MHZ% HELEN C. BOB McCARTNEY Bob McCartney, 55, 23936 Kathleen Street, Warren, Mich. died suddenly at his home on Sunday. Born in Seaforth, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Geoege R. McCartney. He attended school in Tuckersmith and graduated from Seaforth Collegiate, He served in the Canadian Army Postal Corps from 1939 to 1945. In 1951 he moved to Michigan and was employed by the Benton Cor- poration in Warren. He is survived by a brbther, J. Wilson McCartney, R.R. 4, Seaforth. Funeral services will be held from the R.S.Box Funeral Home on Thursday with interment fol- lowing in Baird's Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bruce Armstrong, Arthur Wright, Gor- don Wright, John Broadfoot,Gor- dan people and Merton Keyes. ALLIE MAY TOLL Miss Attie M. Toll, age 84, passed away Dec. 6 in Clinton Public Hospital. Service was held in Tasker Funeral Home, Blyth, Dec. 8th at 2 P.M. with interment in Union Cemetery. Miss Toll was bornJune 11th, 1887 and educated at S.S.No. 10 E.
