"The Winners" stresses the impor- tance of regular health checkups t o protect against cancer. It also examined the rationalizat- ion of average citizens who claim they are 'too busy' to go for checkups. "Recruiting for Hope" dealt with the importance of the volunteer, and suggested looking for new recruits in church, and Various other community organ- izations. Robert Swartman, Goderich, president, welcomed all present, and Mrs. M. W. Durst, Unit president, conducted the meeting. She gave a short resume of the ' District Meeting held in Kitchener in November, ending with the thought of one speaker who suggested that Service is the rent we pay for our stay on earth". Reports of committees,, and the wingharn Clinic report, pointed up the dedicated service being given by volunteers. A letter of commendation from Ontario Division was read complimenting the Unit C ampaign chairman and his Branch chair- men for their work, and William Barlow was presented with a ft Campkign Award Certificate for achievement during 1971. Sandy Kolkma'n Trophy - This. trophy, in memory of Hersselt Sandy Kolkman, to be awarded annually at 4-H Achievement Night to a member of the Dun- gannon 47H Calf Club who displays leadership, ambition, pride in his work in the joyful co-operation with others. Old Mill Award - A sheep-skin coat donated by the Old Mill, Blyth, to the top member in the, Huron County 4-H Sheep Club. This award was won by Doug. Stewart Procter Award - don- ated by Stewart Procter, #5, Brussels, for the top Shorthorn heifer and Shorthorn steer in the 4-H Beef Championship Show at Seaforth -Junior Fair. Mac- Naughton, M. P. P. for South Huron to the 4-H member in Huron County ' receiving the highest number of points on the basis of awards for the 4-H Club work in 1971. The winner of this trophy has the highest score of any of the 4-H members completing their projects. This year the trophy is awarded to Glen Mc- Neil, #6, Goderich, a member of the Dungannon Calf Club with a score of 956 points out of a possible 1000. Runner up, Jim Lynn, #1, Woodham, a member of the Exeter 4-H Calf Club, with a score of 942. The Robert McKinley Citizen- ship Trophy - donated by Robert McKinley M.P, to the 4-H mem- ber in Huron County deemed by nomination to be outstanding in 4-H club work in Huron. Not only 4-H work, but also home and community activities are to be' taken into consideration includ- ing the pledge taken by each 4-H member. This year club leaders nominated 4-H members from their club who .they felt would be worthy of such an award. Those 4-H members nominated were then interviewed by acorn - mittee from the Club Leaders Association and members of the Ontario Department of Agricul- ture and Food, From the inter- views the winner of the trophy • was chosen.
