A former Seaforth banker has received an award alone hundred dollars from the Institute of Canadian Bankers, the educatio- nal division of The Canadian Bankers' Association for out- standing performance in his sub- ject of a banking course held at the University of Western Ontario, the ICB has announced. Thomas D. Papple, 23, for- merly of Seaforth, employed by the Toronto Dominion Bank in Elmvale, Ontario, was selected by his instructor as top student in a business administration course. The banking courses at Western were directed by H. Smith astristant director of the Summer School and Eictension Department, ' and were co- ordinated by W. J. Coste116, manager of a Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce branch in London. Mr, Papple was one of 189 banker students who received a total of 19.5 IC B awards-through 35 participating universities across thd country, including correspondence 'course con- ducted by Queen's University, Kingston, for bankers living in communities where lecture fact- Shies are not available. The Institute confers the title of Fellow on successful com- pletion of the course. Up Salaries Salaries for the adminis- trative staff of the Huron County Board of Education were adjs- ted at a special meeting Of committee of the whole "in- camera" August 23. It is understood the new salaries are effective for one year only. The director of education re- ceived a $2,000 per annum in- crease from $27,000 to $29,000. The five superintendents will receive salaries ranging from $21,000 to $2$,600. The chief accountant was raised from $13,500 to $14,500; the plant superintendent from $11,000 to $12,000; and the -manager of purchasing from $9,000 to $9,500.
