and facilities supplied by the
Dublin District Athletic Assccia,
lion.
With the willing help and co-
operation of the district people
a. fine new playgroued and aball
field, both soccer and softball
have been completed. At the
moment a small buildingisunder
construetion which will house

storage areas.
Even girls softball teams of
various ages and groups are ope-
rating in the immediate area as
well as three boys softball teams.
Each of these has made a very
creditable showing in games
played thus far.
Dublin District Athletic Asso-
ciation also sponsors, three soc-
cer teams, that have and still are
making an excellent showing in
both the Stratford City School
League and the Stratford Indus-
trial League.
The playground is now in
operation and,children at the park
from one to four each afternoon
el are supervised by capable lead-
ers. This feature has proven
very popular each year and the
children seem to enjoy it very
Much. •
The Athletic Association exe-
cutive are quick to point out that
none of this would be possible
le if it wasn't _for the . wonderful
people in the district, who give
so freely of their time to come
out and coach teams, be play-
ground leaders-and-last-but-no t—

least -come out and encourage
the kids being good 'fans.

Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. John J. Walsh
of Stratford, formerly of Dublin,
were honoured on the occasion of
their 25th wedding anniversary
by a surprise party at the home
of their daughter and Son-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Ryan of
Dublin. Father William Nigh,
C.S.B. of Sudbury celebrated a
M ass of Thanksgiving for the
bride and groom of 25 years and
'their family. Those present
'deluded Mr. and Mrs. Ken
(Teresa) POMMST of London.
Mrs. Pommer was the bride's
maid of honour of 25 years. Also
present were the groom's
mother, Mrs. John Walsh, Sr.,
of"Marian Villa, London, and Mrs.
Angela Walsh, London;, Mrs.
Helen Wood, Windsor; Miss Lucy
Walsh, Guelph; Mr. Mike Walsh
and M les Jeannette Rundle, Strat-
ford; Mr. Joe Walsh and Misses
Julia and Helen Walsh, Stratford;
and the couple's four gramthild-
ren, Joseph, John, Margaret and
Pail Ryan of Dublin. John and
Agneewere presented with some
gifts which included a refrigera-
tor from their family.
The 7th Annual Holland;daf-
fney get-together at Dublin over _
the week end attracted a large
attendance of members of the
families returned to renew
friendships. A total of 325 guests
were registered.
Organized each year by
Gerald Holland, the event
features gifts for everyone and
has come to be a much anticip-
ated event by former residents
scattered across Canada and in
many states.
Attendance fluctuates from
year to year. In 1967 for in-
stance the Flynns celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary
and this resulted in, nearly 75
members of that family being
present. •
Refreshments were served
continuously from 11:30 in the
morning until after 10 in the
evening to accommodate the large
crowd.
Mr. Holland recounted plans
which he had made for the event
--and detail's of the day.
(By Gerald Holland)
This year I- realized that
nearly everyone out of a big
family of Eckerts, which is my
mother's side of the house; had
moved out of this area so I
decided to ask all my first cou-
sins to attend. My father -had
only one sister, there were only
. fleet cousins from his side of
the house from one family. He
was Matt Murray of Salex,
Iowa, a brother of Jack Murray
of. McKillop and he married my
mother's sister, s o 'this family
is doubly related to me and
now very dwindled in numbers.
Unfortunately they phoned to say
they couldn't make it this year
as they were leaving on a Euro-
pean Tour, but would certainly
reserve this day next year to be
• here,' "--
Ali a the Cod Eckert Sr.
family from McKillop, Detroit,
etc. were here and all of 'Fred
Eckert's family were here as
well as all of Pete Eckert's
family from Northern Ontario,
DUBLIN
Annual Reunion Attracts
Holland Gaffney Familys
New York and various other
places in U.S.A. and Canada.
The McManns from Dearborn,
Port Franks and Chicago were
here as well as all of the Mur-
rays from the area but one from
Los Angeles was unable to make
it.
Of the Hollands, only one ne-
phew Joe Holland and his wife
from Winnipeg failed to make it.
A niece and her laughter from
Vancouver made it but her hus-
band had to work.
Mrs. J. J. Holland was taken
to Hospita.• 1 two ,days prior to
the reunion and her only regret
was that she was going to miss
the party. All her children
from London, Kitchener,
Torento, Seaforth, however, were
here.
Because of the large crowd
the games for the children were
confined to races and ball games
and prizes were cameras, bill-
folds, dolls and jewelry. Each
of the 125 children ofd the 3rd
generation received coin mint
sets, 4 to $1.00 and other re-
latives received souveniers from
many choices.
My oldest living sister, Mrs.
Flynn was 'present so there was
actually 100% turnout from I the
Holland side of the house.
On my wife's side, the Gaf-
fneys, those present included one
from Logan, 6 Stratford, 1-Lon-'
don, 3 Toronto-Only two fam-
ilies sent regrets that they
couldn't come.
