Last Year's Sidewalk Sale Activity On• Main . Street
Merchants Complete Plans
Brussels Plans for. '72 Centennial
For Two-Day Sidewalk Sale
The sidewalk festival was
conceived by the Chambers Mer-
chant's committee last .year as
part of the celebrations accom-
panying the official opening of
the new Silver Creek Bridge at
the east end of town and- the re-
constructed main street .of Sea-
forth and Egmondville.
News of Walton
Children Compete
At McKillop Picnic
The event proved so popular
that it was decided to present it
again thiS year.
Merchants will be co-operat-
ing by moving merchandise onto
the sidewalks and offering bar-
gains to Seaforth shoppers over
the two day sale. . •
Last year 'the sales festival
was marked by the closing of
the main street to traffic so as
to form a pedestrian mall.
Amusements were provided on
the street both days and a street
dance highlighted Friday evening.
This year, however, the street
will remain ppen to traffic and
.parking so shoppers will have
easier access to their cars and
to the stores themselves. This.
yeAr the carnival atmosphere
is being played down and em-
phasis placed on the, bargain'
and sale nature of the event.
Merchants will provide
chances, free draws pr oppor-
tunities to get purchases free
as well as offering many adver-
tised and unadvertised specials
during the event.
The Sidewalk Festival will
-,begin Friday morning and con-
Untie through the extended shop-
ping. hours on Friday and all day
Saturday.
