A lady was driving her car
and knitting at the same time.
A motorcycle policeman came
along side and yelled to her:
"Pull over, madam!” The woman
smiled at .him and .said; "No,
actually it's a pair of socks."
A baseball umpire suffered
from headaches and finally con-
sulted a doctor. After an exam-
ination the doctor- said, "I think
you need glasses."
The umpire jumped up and
jerked his thumb. "That'll cost
you $100," he roared; "and
you're out of the game."
"How many people attend your
church," one pastor asked
another.
"Sixty regular and about 300
C and E," was the reply.
"C and E?" asked the first.
"Yes, Christmas and Eas-
ter."
A wife went the Bureau of
Missing Person s to. report the
mysterious' disappearance of her
husband.
"He's short and thin," 'she
told the, official, "and bald and
has no teeth. As , a matter of
fact, most of him was miss

It's funny how a man's at-
titude can fluctuate regarding
frozen dinners., It depends on
whether his, wife is well .or ,
whether he suddenly has to do
all the cooking.

Mrs. Gordon Elliott was
hostess for the annual meeting of
Seaforth 'chaired by the
president, Mrs. Ellin 'Whitmore.
The roll call, payment of fees and
and improvement on last year's
prograin, was answered by 21
members and two visitors . The
motto There is nothing as con-
tagious as enthusiasm", was pre-
pared and given by Mrs. Andrew ,
Crozier, who stated that enthus-
iasm keeps a society functioning;
it. is the recognized secret of
success, being the backbone of
any organization or project; En-
thusiasm is a part of youth -
you may wrinkle the skin, but to
give up enthusiasm wrinkles the
soul.
Correspondence included two
courtesy notes. The S. Huron Dis-
trict W. I. Board of Directors
meeting held in He,nsall April 6th,
was reported on by Mrs. Gordan
Papple, district direttor, and
business arising from • this
meeting dealt with, including the
District Annual to be held in Hen-
sall United Church on Thursday,
May 20th; 'also the area conven-
tion to be held in Ontario Street
Church, Clinton, September 30,
October 1. The president stated
that a food forum "Never a dull
meal" will be held at Clinton
Secondary School, April 22. Mrs.
Wilfred Coleman was named as
delegate to the Officers Confer-
ence in Guelph, April 28 & 29.
Following a humorous reading

Pepper, and a sing song under the
direction of Mrs. Andrew
Itirnbull with Mrs. John Mc-•

Riding Association meeting last
week that the Riding is above
the quota assigned in a spring
membership drive. President
Wilf Grazier told a meeting in
the Murphy L.O.L., Clinton, the
Association is entitled to send
a second voting delegate to the
NDP National Leadership Con-
vention in Ottawa. Mrs. Shir-
ley, Weary has been elected to
attend at an earlier meeting, and
at the Clinton meeting Ed.Bain
was chosen as a second voting
delegate ,and Mrs. Kay Stoddard
was appointed" alternate. All
three are residents of Goderich.

Government has recognized this
inequity and has ,taken action in

refund to qualified farmers,
therefore be it resolved that,
the NDP act to insure that, the
present education tax structure is
changed to one where the tax-
payer is charged for education in
direct proportion to his ability
to pay." '
