A good crowd attended the
progressive euchre in the Walton
community hall on Friday evening
with 15 tables in play. Prizes
were given to: High lady. Mrs.
Harold Wilson. Low, Mrs. James
Nolan, 'High Man, Harold Bolger,
Low. Mrs. Lawrence Ryan
(playing as a man). Mrs. Jeck
McEwing held the travelling priize
at the end of the tenth game.

Donald said there would be fur-
ther metre on April 16th- and
21st.
DUFF'S U.C. W.
The C. C. executive of
Duff's United Church met for
a business meeting on Wednes-
day afternoon with 13 ladies
present.
The President Mrs, Wm. Roe
opened with prayer. Flans were
made for the Thankofeering ser-
vice on April 25 with the guest
speaker, Mrs. Stewart Miner,
President of the U.C. w Pres-
byterial of Thames Road Church,
xeter. ,The supper committee
we. meet to revise the supper
menus. The meeting in May will
be a Pot Luck supper with all
units meeting together,
4-H MEETINGS
The Walton I club, "Sewing
Savers" met at the home 'of Anil
Watson. The 'roll call "How I
planned my separates to flat-
ter my figure" was answered
by -eight etTembers. Joan Bennett
read the minutes, Mrs. Watson
demonstrated putting in tarts,
joining seams and gathers, while
Mrs. Searle showed how to press
the darts.

met when the secretary's report
was given by Janice Houston.
Mrs. McDonald led the discussion
on darts and Marie Nolan dem-
onstrated how to sew a dart.
Mrs. Steff ler showed how to make
gathers and hoe' to sea, a seam
and press it. At a further meet-
ing Linda Rowe read the sec-
retary's report. The roll call was
"One point I learned in cutting
out and makirig my garment".,
Mrs. D. McDonald led the dis-
less= of why we should dress
to it the °cc asion. Mrs. Steil-
ler showed the proper way to
put facing in garments and Mrs.
McDonald demonstrated how to
sew the reinforced crotch.

Snow plowing` costs _in Logan
Township more than doubled dur-
ing past winter, council
learned at a meeting Monday.
Clerk X. J. Reaney reported
$27,054.50 had been !spent on
snow plowing up to now In 1071
compared to $12,086.50 during
a comparable period ending in
1970.
Councillors held their April
meeting a week early so that
the road subsidy requisition
could be in to the Departibetit
of Highways by March 31.
Howard and Bill Jackson were

The Performing Arts A•scic-
fation and the Tovm of Parkhill's

The Hullett Federation of
Agriculture met in Londesboro
Hall when it was decided to
give special prizes to boys and
girls who place first or second
in a swine class, a beef class,
a sheep class and a dairy class
at the Clinton Spring Show. Con-
testants in ist reside in Hullett
Township.
Perc Gibbings, George Col-
dough and Lloyd Stewart are to
set up a membership drive in
Hullett Township. A committee
including Pat Bunking, Lawrence
Plaetzer, Bill Gibbings and
George Colclough was appointed

bus trip later on.

HORACE JOHN KNIGHT
Horace John Knight died
suddenly at his home in Goderich,
Ontario. on April 2, /971, in his
73rd year.
He was a son of the late Mr.
and Mrs, JohnKnight of Seaforth.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Florence McWhinney,
also sons, Harold, G-oderich;
William , Sarnia; daughter's,
Beulah, (Mrs. Marviti Good);
Betty (Mrs. Ken Prouse);
Pauline. (Mrs.. Gatean Jacques);
'Marie (Mrs. Gerald Dobie), all of
Goderich and Dorothya(Mrs.iiDon
Squires), Corunna.
Also surviving are brothers,
Frank, Toronto; Cecil, Kit-
chener 'Leslie, Grand Bend;
Alvin and Carl, Hamilton; and
one sister, Florence (Mrs.James,
-Ritchie) London. One brother,
Norman, predeceased him in
1955.
Also surviving are, nieeteen
grandchildren.
The body rested at the Stiles
Funeral Home, Goderich, 'where
funeral services were held on
Monday', April 5, at a p.m. Inter-
ment followed in Colborne
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Ron - *
Sproule, Guy Robinson; Ray Rob-
inson, Les Pentland, Frank
Wilson and Ralph Mathews.
