Yikes! How things can turn around
in the weather department. The
softly falling snow on Saturday
morning looked lovely, but it
certainly just kept coming and
coming and coming, until it made
quite a mess of the roads Saturday
evening. I guess we will get used to
it now that the shovelling has started.
Our sympathies are extended to
the family of the late Orville Storey.
He will be missed by his family
Shirley, Gail, Patricia, Donna, Jack,
Sherry and Gerald and their families.
Orville was a well-known farmer
and musician from the area and will
be missed by many. Our condolences
to all.
Very good news for the Mitchell
family as Sarah Mitchell is
now home from her rehabilitation
at Holland Bloorview Kids
Rehabilitation Hospital. She is doing
very well and is back to school in
Clinton. It has been a long road since
the accident and we are happy to
hear Sarah is doing so well!
The Walton Hall was the venue for
the Chesley Saddle Club on
Saturday evening for their annual
meeting, Christmas get-together,
potluck meal and final get-together
for 2015. The group was slightly
smaller with 40 making the drive
through the snowy night to attend.
They unfortunately, had a chilly
reception at the hall because the
furnace had decided to quit
sometime in the afternoon, but an
emergency call went out to Mark,
and things warmed up soon.
Sunday evening, the hall was the
spot to be. An idea spawned around
the table at the Walton Inn by
Graeme Craig and Rick McInroy.
They thought about putting on a
meal and then gathering to have an
“Evening with Graeme and Rick”.
The ladies of the Walton Women’s
Institute were enlisted to provide the
meal and a turkey dinner and the
date was decided upon. The
members of the Walton Hall Board
were enlisted to set up, serve tea and
coffee and clean up. Any monies
raised would go to the two
community groups. Dinner was
limited to 70 and the tickets were
sold out in just five days. Following
the dinner, everyone went upstairs to
enjoy the “show”. Graeme and Rick
were settled on the stage with the
Christmas tree creating a festive
background. Rick started the night
by introducing Helen Craig, who
gave a short history of the institute
and inviting any ladies to join to
contact any member. Rick continued
with a short history of the hall. He
