Favourite Hymn segment.”
Herman explained that his
daughter explained that she had once
asked her grandmother (Herman’s
mother) what hymn she would sing
and, without hesitation, she said
“He”.
He said singing his final anthem
with the choir, Louis Armstrong’s
‘What a Wonderful World’, was also
an emotional moment.
“[That song] had become the
choir’s signature piece,” he said.
“We sang it at community functions
like Women’s Day Out, we sang it at
my daughter’s wedding and indeed
at worship services in church.”
He went on to say that the church
has become a wonderful world for
him and his family, right down to his
grandson Harrison who goes to
Sunday school, so the song fit his
last day.
“It was an emotional day, but it
was an emotion of love, family and
friendship,” he said. “I will say that
the stock price of Kleenex should go
up after that service. It really was a
wonderful day.”
Stepping in
After a couple of children from around Brussels were
injured in a motor vehicle collision, several groups and
individuals have stepped forward to help raise money for
the Ronald McDonald House, where both Sarah and Sean
Mitchell spent some time after the accident. Here, Gary

as part of an event that raised over $1,000 for the cause.
