Brewers squeak by
Zurich Rangers 5-4
Big winner
Sjoerd Jan De Boer, centre, was one of the biggest winners at last week’s Huron County
Ploughing Match. He was crowned Huron Junior Champion, which brought along with it the
Warden’s Award from Huron County Warden Paul Gowing. He also won the McGavin Family

Park.
The Brewers added a single run in
the fifth inning. Zurich scored one

Barry Young hit a two-run home
run for the Brewers and added a

Blaine Marks of the Brewers said
McDonald did a great job of
pitching in relief and that Cox was
good as a starter. “It was a well-
fought battle,” he said.
The Brewers concluded the
regular season on Tuesday as they
travelled to Fullarton for a game
against the A’s. The year-end

pleased to announce “Public Health
Matters”, a regular column by Dr.
Janice Owen, Huron County
Medical Officer of Health (A). This
column will give readers important
local public health information as
well as explain the role of public
health in our healthcare system.
PUBLIC HEALTH MATTERS:
TICK TALK
Hello Huron County residents, my
name is Dr. Jan Owen and I am the
new Medical Officer of Health
(MOH) for Huron County. In this
regular column I will explain how
public health helps you and other
Huron County residents.
First, let’s talk about how public
health is different from a visit to
your healthcare provider’s office.
As a MOH, I act as a public health
physician. Outside of my MOH role,
I am also a family physician. What’s
the difference between the two?
As a family doctor, I see
individual patients in my office. We
