At approximately 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday July 22, Perth County EMS personnel, the West Perth Fire Dept., and Huron and Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to the intersection of Perth Road 180 and Perth Line 36 north of Dublin, regarding a serious two-vehicle collision. Initial investigation revealed that a west-bound Pontiac Vibe travelling on Line 36 proceeded into the intersection of Perth Road 180 directly in front of a southbound, full-sized empty livestock truck. Police say the Pontiac was broadsided by the truck, causing major injuries to the three occupants. Two occupants were transported by air ambulance to a London hospital while one occupant remains at a local hospital. The driver of the livestock truck was uninjured. After the initial impact both vehicles entered the ditch area to the southwest of the intersection. The livestock truck struck hydro poles and took down lines of a Hydro One sub-station located there. Damage to the Hydro One network resulted in a power outage to hydro customers in and around Dublin. The OPP Western Region Technical Traffic Investigation Unit was called to the scene and is continuing their investigation into the cause of the collision.
