The Legion Hall decorated
in ChriStmas motif was the set-
tog for the Christmas meeting
of Hensall Wonn ens Institute Wed-
nesday evening with Mrs.
Clarence Reid presiding.
During the business period
plans were laid to hold a euchre
in January, proceeds to go to
the Hensall Recreation Park and
Community Centre Beard for re-
pairs for the Arena.
Mrs. Grace Peck presented
reports of the fall board meet-
ing of South Huron Womens In-
stitutes held in Hensall, and a
report of. Huronview Auxiliary.
Mrs. Carl Payne submitted high-.
lights of the area convention held
at St. Thomas which she attended
as a delegate.
Mrs. Fred Beer presided for
the program with songs by five
little girls, Betty Beer, Jennifer
Cook, Roth Turvey and the Boyle
twins, Karen and 'Kan. Miss
Greta Lammie accompanist. Mr.
Sam Rennie was guest soloist
and led the sink song. Mrs. B.

On Truck
•• Santa arrived on the Wei fire
truck at the Arena Saturday after-
noon where he welcomed the
children of Hensall and District,
at the annual Christmas party
sponsored by the local business-
men,
Members of the Hensall Fire
Brigade handed out some five
hundred bags of treats and choce--
late milk,,, compliments of Huron-
dale Dairy. The- children' also
enjoyed free movies with Jim
Hyde in charge of the projector.

A four piece brass band from
London Citadel Band played
Christmas carols in each insti-
tution and visited Mrs. Maude
Hedden and played several carets
for her.
In the party were Mrs, Brig.
Rawlins of London and Mrs. Eric
Lether and Mrs: Pearl Erratt
of Hensall, the latter two helping
to aistribute the sunshine bags.
Miss Anne Hayter of Varna
was successful in passing
•the grade eight piano examination
of the Western Ontario Conserva-
tory of Music with honours. Anne
elk 'passed the grade theory
examination with honours at the
midsummer session. She is a

The Kinsmen Club of Hensall
are planning their third annual
Senior Citizen Nite at the Hensall
,Public School on Thursday. A
bus will leave from the school at
7 p.m. for a tour ,of Christmas
lights with a small program of
local entertainment and lunch to
follow.

Mrs. Rodger Venner and carols
were sung in honour of the found-
ding nations of our country, the
French Canadians, the New Cana-
dians, the Polish and-the German.

The business portion of the
meeting was held in the F
'ship Hall- when the leaders of
the various Units spoke. Mrs.
Howard Scane for Unit 1, Mrs.
James McAllister for Unit 4.
Mrs. Walter Spencer presented
the Treasure( 's Statement show-
ing the allocation •paid and $108
balance in the fund and a balance
of $378 in the General Fund.
Miss "Mary Godwin reported
for the Finance Committee.
As part of a skit, Mrs. Ro-
bert Reaburn questioned the
U.C.W., the president and con-
venors.
Mrs. Rodger Venner repor-
ted for the program committee,
Mrs. Carl Passmore for Citi-
zenship and Social Action, Mrs.
Lorne Hay for Friendship and
Visitation. Mrs. E. Chipchase
for Supply and Welfare, said
that 1015 lbs. of clothing had
been sent- for overseas relief.

meeting of the U.C.W. with
Rev. Harold Currie as guest
speaker. "The Wonderment of
Christmas" was the chosen topic.
President, Mrs.Thos.Brintnell
gave a Christmas message.The
worship service “Gifts for the
King" was given by ,Mrs.Earl
Kinsman with Mrs.Percy Wright
assisting. Rev.Currie conducted
the instalation of the new officers
for 1970. A donation' of money
will be sent to Miss Mary Mc-
hol , in India. A pot luck lunch
dinner and quilting will be held
at the January meetIng.Thirteen
Christmas baskets were packed
and delivered t9 the shut -ins of
the church.
