McKillop Unit of the U.C.W. was
held at the home of Mrs. Mervin
Qmith with twenty-eight ladies
present. A delicious turkey din-
ner was served at noon by the
losing side of the Copper Con-
'test.
Mrs. William J. Leeming pre-
sided for the Devotions and open-
ed the meeting with a verse.
Mrs. Keith Rock led in prayer}''.
Mrs. Campbell Wey read the
scripture from Luke 3; 1-8, The
meditation was -given by Mrs.
David Watson. Hymn 47 (0 Come
All Ye Faithful' was sung. Mrs.
Norman Schade received the of-
fering which was dedicated by
Smiles . . .
A city, boy and a country lad
were walking down a street. Co-
ming toward them was a Product
of a beauty parlor - permanent,
scarlet fingernails, drugstore
complexion and gaudy lipstick.
'Now, what do you think of that?'
asked tne city cloy.
The farm boy looked care-
fully and observed, 'Speaking as
a farmer, I'd say that it must
nave been mighty poor soil to
need so much top-dressine.'

Mrs. Leeming. Mrs. David Wat-
son read two poems 'That's
Christmas' and (The Joy of Lit-
tle Things'. Hymn 61, (Christ
was born to Save' was sung.
Mrs. Glen McNichol led in
prayer. The Huron Carol was
sung, led by Mrs. Neil McGavin
and Mrs. GAMpbal Wey.
A skit was presented(Christ-
mas Comes to Our Brother'.
Those taking part were Mrs.
Keith Rock, Mrs. Campbell Wey,
Mrs. Glen McNichol, Mrs. Wil-
liam J. Leeming, Mrs. David
Watson, The first verse of five
Christmas carols was sung after
each of the five readers.
Mrs. Glen McNichol was in
charge of the business. Orders
were taken for the Church calen-
ders. McKillop Unit will be in
charge of the Comniunion Cups
in January. Mrs. McNichol clos-
ed the meeting with prayer.

A social evening was held in
St. Patrick's Parish Hall on Fri-
day night for Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
Cronin in appreciation to those c'
who helped in any way. Reverend
Father Durand and the newly
formed Parish Council planned
an enjoyable evening which in-
cluded cards and dancing.
Lou Rowland, chairman of
the Parish Council, read the
following address:
Dear Lorne and Anne: It is in-
deed heartwarming for the Exe-
curive of the newly formed Dub-
lin Parish Council to learn of
the depth of goodness and gener-
osity of the people of this com-
munity and surrounding area.
-Words are inadequate to ex-
press our feelings of sympathy
for you in your great -loss; but
we do hope you will get connfort,:,,,,,Dorsey, Mrs. Joe Connolly, Linda and consolation out of knowing
that.so many people care.
We ask you, to accept this
gift as a token of the esteem in
which you are held by one and

Father Durand presented
them with an envelope containing
money which had been received
from a collection taken up after
the fire. Father Durand also
spoke briefly and thanked every-
one for their kindness and gener-
osity, pointing out that it is a
time of disaster like -this that
makes one feel proud to live
ill a community such as this.
Mr. and Mrs. Cronin thanked .
their friends and neighbours and
anyone who helped in any way.

Joe Delaney.

Rev. Nicholas Vandermey of Dau-
phin, Man., takes place on De-
cember 27, was guest of honor
at a shower on Saturday evening
at the home of Mrs. Charles
Honey. She was seated beneath
a trellis prettily decorated with
poinsettias and twinkling lights
to receive her gifts, a Mixmaster
and other indivudual gifts, the
latter from relatives. They were
presented by Mrs. Roney and the
address of good wishes was com-
posed and read by Mrs. Dalton
Malcolm. Neighbours and friends
joined the relatives for the happy
event during which there was an
enjoyable program with Mrs.
Jack Burchill as M.C. It included
Joan Annis singing to her own
accompaniment on the guitar, tap
dancing by Patti- and Vicki
O'Rourke, accordion numbers by
Vicki O'Rourke and Trudy
Claessens with Mrs. Len
O'RoUrke accompanying on her
guitar, a reading 'How to preserve
a Husband' by Mrs. Blythe Lan-

tation, Time for Giving' and Mrs.
