DEVEREAUX= In memory of
Anne Marie Devereaux, who
passed away Dec. 9, 1965.
Just a lonely heartache and
many a silent tear;
Always a beautiful memory of
one I loved so dear,
I think of her in silence and
\make no outward show, but
what it means to lose her,
. no one will ever know.

'araeaded year old by-
law to increase from $50. to
- the amount a committee
could spend without council
consent in an emergency.
The fire brigade grant of
$150. per man was approved.
There are up to 20 man on
strength. Councillors also in-
cluded their own remuneration
for the year. The mayor receives
$500. and each councillor $350.
Payment of $5, each to Mayor
Sills and Clerk Williams for
selection of jurors was approved.
Counc.Betty Cardno asked
whether standing committees
would continue with the same
personnel next year and sug -
gested changes Mig ht make it
possible for members to acquire
a better overall appreciation of
. the work of council.
Mayor Sills suggested this
could be considered by Reeve
Flannery and Dep.Reeve Cuthill
who last year served as a nom-
inating committee.- At the same
time he said they could bring
in recommendations for appoint-
ments to various boards.

unanimously endorsed, called for
the Ontario Department of Health
to make provision with the
Ontario Hospital Services Cella-
roisslon to cover chroide patleats
when they are released from

hos-
pitals nursing homes.
Members learned from Bob
aroadfoot, R. R. 1 ,Brucefield,that
further study will be given by the
resolutions committee regarding
a request that all farm vehicles
on highways be insured for public
liability and property damage,
Elmer Hunter was named to
represent the group at a special
'meeting slated for December 16
in the town hall,Clinton, When
representatives of Development
Associates Ltd.,Ottawa, will dis-
cuss with officials from across
the county, the future of the
Canadian Forces Base, Clinton.
Reeve Roy Pattison, of East
Wawanosh, chairman of the
County Development Committee
of the Huron County Council,
which has been actively engaged
in promoting the base as a pot-
ential community college or as a
potential site for other educat-
ional institutions, told the dir-
ectors that the facilities offered
at the base are "tremendous"...
He added, however that "this is
something that does not progress
swiftly".
Earlier in the all season,
the directors had requested that
Conestoga College of Appplied
Arts investigate the possibility
of establishing a college at the
Base. Mr- Hunter told the dir-
ectors that College officials, in-
terested in setting up some type
of school' in the dktrict, felt the
base_was' too lar g e:
Directors and heads of the
various commodity . groups will
meet with and present biletkto the members of parlianicat from
this area at a round table dis-
cussion in Clinton on December
29.
Thursday's meeting inClin-
ton, heard one director, Bruce
Shapton, ask fpr some direct,
ion in preparing his brief on In-
surance, '"This crop inserance is
a farce -- If only five per cent of
the Ontario farmers carry crop
insurance -- then the other 95%
can't be all wrong," commented
the Exeter area farmer. He added
that he had not heard of one
Exeter farmer who had been
• satisfied with his crop in-
surance after crop insurance
claims had been settled (the 1969
bean crop in Exeter was a com-
plete failure).
Stating that he did not feel
that the government wished to
offer a "bad" service-rather
that it' was not fully aware that
the farmer was not satisfied,
George Smith sugg ested that
perhaps there was no one "rais-
ing enough cain about it."
