The resignations of seven
Huron County school teachers
were accepted at Monday even-
ing's meeting of the Board of
Education and eight new teachers
were hired to fill end of the
year vacancies.
Resigning are Mrs. Marilyn
Taylor, Huron Centennial School;
Jean Davidson, Seaforth
District High School; Mrs. M.
Kerr, Victoria Public sc,hool,
Goderich; Mrs. Sharon Soldan,
Stephen Central School; Miss
Dorothy Wagner, J. A. D, McCurdy
Public School; Mrs. Isobel Gar-
niss, Wingham Public School; and
Miss Gayle Lamport, J. A. D.
McCurdy Public School.
Forty applications were re-
ceived and 22 teachers inter-
viewed for eight positions in
e einentary schools across the
c unty. Those hired were Mrs,
adeline Aggerholrne to, teach
in ton; Miss Joan Fisher,
Goderich; A. Harrison, Turn-
berry; R. F. Hooper, J. A. D.
McCurdy; Mrs. Barbara Moss,
Goderich; Mrs. Shirley Mous-
seau, Stephen; Allen SCha.de; Go-
derich; and Mrs. Carolynne
Wood, Huron Centennial.
Some discusion was heard
on the provision of specia,l edu-
cation in county schools. Toclate,
272 students _in the county have
the advantage of opportunity alas
ses. remedial classes, speech
About 2'77 more students could
benefit from such training, it
was learned.
The Board gave permission
for James Coulter, Superinten-
dent, to make a 'study of the
needs and what it would cost
to finance it. It his been esti-
mated that eight to ten extra
teachers for special education
would have to be hired.
Mrs. Marilyn Kunder, ex-
pressed her interest in the pro-
gram. She said it was in keeping
with the Beard's intention to
provide equal educational oppor-
tunities for all 'children in the
county.
Policy is forthcoming regar-
ding the Board's role concerning
moving students from school to
school, This has Peen done or
several occasions with the mutual
consent of the parents and the
administration oilieers of Huron
County Board of Education. John
Tiroadfoot asked that Board mem-
bers be kept informed' *.t)f. such
shifts.

RObert Ahrens in .Burlington on
Sunday.
Flowers were placed on 'the
altar of St, Peter's Lutheran
Church on Sunday in loving me-
mory of the late Henry Rose.
They were placed there by his
wife and family. Bouguets of

of Mr. and Mrs. Robert

Mr. and Mrs. George Quin-
cey, New York, visited recently
