APPLE CHEESE COBBLER ,-6 medium apples (about 2 lbs. ) 1/4 cup brown sugar . 1 tablespoon butter, melted 11 cups sifted all-purpose flow 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons butter 3/4 cup (3 ounces) grated ched- dar cheese 1 egg, beaten 6 tablespoons milk • 1/4 cup brown sugar 2 tablespoons boiling water Peel, core and slice apples. Combine with 1/4 cup brown sugar and melted butter. Arrange in baking dish. Sift flour, baking pdwder and salt. Cut in butter and add grav- ed cheese. Combine egg and milk. Add to dry ingredients) Ind mix quickly to a soft dough. Pat dough, out to fit casserole and place over apples. Bake at 425 degrees F for 15 minutes.' Combine remaining 1/4 cup sugar and water. Pour over partly baked dough. Continue baking until apples are tender and•top- ping tests -done (about 15 minut- es). Serve warm with cream or ice cream. 6 servings.
