An, information report pre-
sented to the board at the meet-
ing clealt with the question of
school libraries.
In connection with the report,
the following recommendations
were made by J. W. Coulter,
superintendent of Program and
Planning:
1. All schools should have lib-
raries;
2. Filmstrips should be
readily available as books, for
pupils' use;
3. Shelves should be ',weeded"
of surplus copies;
4. More emphasis on use of fac-
ilities by individuals and
small groups on an informal
basis;
5. Instruction and practice in the
use of materials by the pupils
in preparing reports.
"I am generally pleased with
the progress we have made but
several improvements remain as
'a challenge to us," concluded
Mr. Coulter.
