kindergarten hassle in
11Prpp, County has been handed
OVer;to tke new board for pol-
icy making'.
g"This board couldn't reach
decision," stated Director of
Education John a Cochrane. ',We
are, well launched into the school
year and any change would have
to be sudden. Many teachers
have difference of opinions on
this subject too."
A recommendation to retain
the present system for the bal-
ance of the school year and to
appoint an ad hoc committee of
three board members from the
1971 board to work with the
Direct9r of Education and his
staff was approved.
It is understood that the corn-
mittee will interview the pupils,
parents, principals and teachers
of the county for the purpose of
making a recommendation to the
Board for implementation with
the opening of school in Sept-
ember 1971.
John Broadfoot, the only
member of the board who was
opposed to reopening the kin-
dergarten question several meet-
ings ago, said he could see no
great purpose in a committee
spending a lot of time on this
subject.
"I think it is time we now
look at the facts of the case,"
said Mr. Broadfoot. "The del-
egation (from Stephen) rep-
resented only about 4 percent of
the parents."
