Sponsored by the bus- • inessmen, organizations and ind- ividuals of the Village, some four hundred children were treated to bags of candy and bottles of chocolate milk, the latter items gifts of Ron Mock of Hurondale Dairy. UNITED CHURCH WOMEN • Hensall United Church Women met on Monday in the church when they had as their guests the U.C.W. of Zurich. It featured the Shepherds,Mrs. Harold Currie, Mrs. David Kyle, Mrs. Edison Forrest; the wise men, Mrs. Robert Cook, Mrs. Blackwell and Mrs. Wm. Mickle; Joseph, Mrs. Jack Drysdale; Mary, Mrs. Ron Wareing. Mrs. Rodger Venner read the scripture and the prayers given by Mrs. Venner and Mrs, Alder- ▪ dice were taken from Margery Holmes "prayer of a House- wife". Musical numbers for the evening by the U.C.W. seX- tette comprised of Miss Mary Goodwin, Mrs. Ron Mock, Mrs. Cecil Pepper, Mrs. Robert Rea- burn, Mrs. J. C. Goddard, Mrs. Carl Passmore with Mrs. Wm. Fuss playing the accompaniment. Mrs. Laird Mickle presented a medley of sacred songs on the piano and the carol singing throughout the tableau and the program with Mrs. Fuss at the organ, was heart warming. The offering was taken by Mrs. Earl Rowe and Mrs. Errat.Mrs. James McAllister, on behalf of the U.C.W., presented the re- tiring president, Mrs. Vern Al- derdice, with a Life Member- ship in the U.C.W. and presented her with her pin. Christmas treats were delivered to thirty shut-ins of Hensall United Church Tuesday afternoon, a project. of the Friendship and Visitation committee composed of: Mrs. R. J. Drysdale ( convener); Mrs. Stanley Mitchell; Mrs. Lorne Hay; Mrs. Albert Shirray; Mrs. Jack Simmons; Mrs. Pearl Pass- more; Mrs. Jack Consitt; Mrs. Wilmer Ferguson and Mrs. Har- vey Keys. The United Church Women of Chiselhurst United Church packed and delivered fifteen Christmas baskets to shutpins of the church on Tuesday afternoon. • gave courtesy remarks. CARMEL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH The W.M.S. of Carmel Pres- byterian Church met Monday evening with l7 members and home helpers present. President Mrs. R. A. Orr opened the meeting with a Christ- mas poem. Roll call was answered with a favorite Christ- mas carol Each member participated in the program in the Christmas theme. Mrs. Ann Broadfoot of Hen- sail knitted five wee shirts and passed them over to the W.M.S. to be sent to the needy children of India. A pot luck Christmas lunch followed. Slate of officers for 1971 was brought in by Mrs. George Waly and Mrs. Robert Madge. Mrs. W. Mrs. Alma Hess left Thurs- day of this week by plane to spend the winter months with her three sisters and a brother in Regina, Saskatchewan. Mrs. Grace Harpole left Wed- nesday to visit with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Book at Ottawa. U.C. W. The Kippen U.C.W. Christ- mas meeting was a highlight of the year when Brucefield joined as guests. Christmas carols were played by Mrs. Ross Broadfoot and Mrs. Gerald Moffat presented a candle-lighting wor- ship service assisted by Mrs. Hugh Hendricks, Mrs. K. McLel- lan, Mrs. Bert Faber, Mrs. R. Elgie and Mrs. L. Cooper. Mrs. E. Kyle and Mrs. Keith Lovell sang two beautiful solos. Mrs. Robert Elgie welcomed everyone. Mrs. H. Binnendyk read the minutes and roll call was answered by "What I Like Best About Christmas". The Sun- shine report by Mrs. Norman Dickert, the Rose report by Mrs. Laird Finlayson and the visiting report by Mrs. Lloyd Cooper were given. Mrs, R. Kinsman read the correspondence and Mrs. K. McLellan the treasurer's report. Mrs. John Sinclair told the Christmas story of Ben David whose orchards and vineyards Deliver Xmas Baskets Mrs. Russell Brock opened the Christmas meeting of Chisel- hurst United Church Women with a poem, Continuing Christ. All joined in singing Hark the Herald Angels. The worship was taken by Mrs. Tom Brintnell "A Christmas Gift". Mrs. Alvin Cole, Mrs. Jack Brintnell, Mrs. Brock gave a skit, "Don't let it happen without me". Rev. H. Currie gave the Christmas message on "Thinking Again About Christmas". Sixteen Christmas baskets were packed and delivered to shut-ins of the congregation. An Ex- ecutive meeting had been held at the home of Mrs. R. Elgie when the shut-in boxes were packed and Christmas concert plans completed and the year's programs planned. Mrs. Lloyd Cooper had prepared the pro- grams for presentatiqn to mem- bers at the meeting. Mrs. Wm. Brintnell reported for the sick and shut ins. The 4-H Achievement Day will be held January 9th in Zurich.
