The Huron Expositor, 1970-09-03, Page 3An apology must be extended to the Parea 0
of the Bantam Ball. Team as their PiOttire
not be run as a result of a misunderstanding.
Coaches of area teams must realize that it.is
not always possible qr convenient to have a
photographer available at their lenge games
and as a result 'the Bantams failed to appear
when arrangements were made to have their
picture taken. Teams and coaches in the area
must realize that If the press is to co-operate
and cover their games and stories then they
must be prepared to co-operate also. No offence
is directed to anyone 'connected with the Bantam
Team but perhaps in the future better arrange-ments can be made.
Turning to baseball the Industrial League
playoffs are now underway and a gbod crowd of
area 'spectators were given a good evening's
entertainment last Monday might. It's nice to
see use made of the lights at the Liens Park
as the teams played two games •at the Park
under the lights to provide plenty of excite-
ment.
The major leagues are sticking pretty much
as predicted as each present Division Leader
manages to hang on to, it s respective lead .
Football, howei%er, has shown many early
surprises as the Montreal squad has taken
an early lead in the Eastern CPL conference
while Toronto has had a very disappointing
start. Tne big surprise -in the Western Confer-ence has been the play of the British Columbia
Lions as they continue to press the powerful
Saskatchewan Roughriders.
A nerve racking experience was had by the
referees during the' St. Columban soccer gams
last Saturday when the spectators took exception
to a penalty call against the, local team and
provided London Roma with a penalty shot which
eventually went into the St. Columban net and
^provided the London team with the margin of
victory.
St. Columban is at present one point in front of
the London team but have a game in hand so
possibly could move into the 1st Division- next
season if they can continue to play heads-up
soccer.
A note .to local correspondents covering area
sports - be sure and mark Clearly the teams
participating and the final scores along with the
date th e event took place and where the event
was held.

no chance on the play. •
The 2nd half was end to end

time the shot found the bottom
right corner of the St.Columban
net.
