His birthday is coming up soon. Would it be proper to send him a gift? If so, could you give me a few suggestions as to what? I do not know his clothing size. He sends me gifts for Valen- tin, e's, Christmas and my birth- :day. ora DEAR NORA - I'd .. say , a friendship at a distance, of nearly two years, deserves recognition with a gift. Clothing is taboo, anyway, be- tween just friends. -Best ideas relate to his hobbies: A record you know he'd like; a how-to book; a pen; a horoscope poster for his room; a magazine subscription. Choose a humorous card to go with it - buf not the insulting e kind. They're for the birds queer birds. DEAR DORIS - I am engaged to a man 10 years my junior. I will be 60 next birthday and he, was 50 last summer. This does not seem to matter to him. He has never been mar- t', tied. Now he wants a home of his own. My husband has been dead for five years. It has been hard to think of someone else in his place, but I feel I could be happy with this man, and make him hap- py. • Do you think there is too big an age difference? If you are willing to put your whole self into it and not expect an unearned blissful paradise, it, may well bring yoi some important earthly • happiness. Growing old alone has little to be said for it, if there is any other' way. DEAR DORIS - Can you ima- gine it? I bought the best black- VARNA Students Doris Clark Married. 40 Years
