have been infrequent for a 52-
year-old Sarnia housewife who
has been writing poetry for full
since she was 12-;years-old.

'1 have always liked country
music and, last year, I decided
i would either try to have'some
poetry published in a book or
perhaps get a song or two pub-
lished.'
At that point, music appeared
to be the greater challenge. She
wrote some country song lyrics,
then sat down at the piano and
applied her talents to music wri-
ting.

years, then- went on by myself.
But, music is not reallymy main Or interest. It's the lyric writing

She finally came up with a Seaforth, Ont. total of 11 songs which she sent
- to an Alberta recording firm

cently was notified that one of
the songs 'Give Me a chance',
had been recorded and released
on an album called 'Simply
Country'.
'They also told me there would
be more records in the future
and that maybe three or 'four
of my songs would be on the
next one.'

"Fun Night" was the theme
for the January meeting of Sea-
forth W.I., with Miss Eleanor
Henderson as hostess. The
president, Mrs. Lorne Lawson,
chaired the meeting and following
opening exertises, read a poem
"The New Year." The-roll call
was answered by "A past Christ-
mas or New yeaes that I will
always remember". The motto,
'Names', remember them, don't
blacken them with gossip," was'
commented on by Mrs.Lorne
Dale.
The program, planned by Mrs.
Graham; Kerr and, Mrs. Lorne,_
Dale, included progressive
euchre with prizes going to - MoSt
points, Mrs. Lorne Dale;. Fewest
points, Mrs. W. Colernan; Most
lone hands, Mrs. J.McGregor.

son was to look after the sending
away of used stamps. The word
Charity to be for the roll call at
February meeting.
The Presbyterial meeting to
be, held on May 13th at 2 o'clock
in Seaforth. Mrs. Jack Thompson
was to represent our Society as
a voting delegate to the Synodical
held in Paris in April.

Sarnia with her 'family last year
from Seaforth.
The mother of three children,
Laurie, . 10, Ivan 8, And Lois,
3, and a working mother at that
, • she still finds time for
writing.
'Even after doing it for all •
these years, I still like to write
in my spare ,time', she says.
