Guest speaker for the evening
was Roy Delaney, Field Worker for.
the Ontario. Division. He said that
the Cancer . Society was formed at
the request of the Canadian
Medical Association to educate the
people about cancer, so that they
would not be afraid to talk about it.
As they branched out in their,
service, they required money to
carry on the work so they began to
canvas for funds. Sixty-five
percent of their money is used for
research purposes. He,stated they
were advocating starting' to educate
children not to smoke in Kinder-
garten, because surveys have
recently shown that most children
have smoked a cigarette by grade
three., He praised the work of
volunteers, the people who make
up the Canadian Cancer Society.
