Thursday, October 17. Mrs. Jean West opened the . meeting taking the "Thanksgiving Worship Service" from Glad Tid- ings. Hymn 725 was sung after which the W.M.S. Purpose was repeated followed by prayer. Taking part In the service- were leader Mrs. Jean West and Noah, Mrs. Warren Wylds. Scripture taken from Genesis 8 was given followed by Hymn 140. Luke 17 was given. First Leper - Mrs. Gordon Robb; 'second Leper - Mrs. Henry MacKenzie; tenth Leper - Mrs. Ewan MacLean. Offertory prayer was given by Mrs. Jean West after which Hymn 141 was sung. A reading "Thanksgiving; Abun- dance of Fruit and Vegetables" was given by Mrs. Allan MacDon- ald from Glad Tidings." Mrs. Jean West had reading "First Thanks- giving" and Mrs. Ewan MacLean had some readings from the Leprocy Book. Roll call, a Thanksgiving verse was answered by nine ladies, one child was also present. Mrs. Warren Wylds conducted the business. A 'reminder'- Glad Tiding subscriptions are to be renewed and you may contact Mrs. Wylds before the end. of October. A thank you note was received from Mrs.Colin MacGregor. Hymn 147 was sung, followed by grace. Mrs. West closed the meeting with prayer. The ladies worked on the banner and lunch and social time followed. Last week's girls' scores were 1 0 for team 3, 2 - 1 for team 2 and 1 - 0 for team 3. This week's boys' scores were 3 - 0 for team 1 and 2 -,0 for team 2. This week's girls' score was 1 - 0 for team 3. The cross country meet will be held Thursday, October 17, in Lions Head for the High School. It willbe held in Paisley sometime next week for Public School. GRADES ,I - 2 Last week, Mr: Griffith, Kincard- ine Fire Chief, came to our school for Fire Prevention Week. He showed us films and talked to us. about firesafety at school and at. home. Grade 1 is now talking about the -fireman, his jobs, and the different safety rules we must follow to prevent fires. Everyone in grades 1 and 2 are helping Heather Scott to put on her coat at recesses and noon hour,' as she broke her thumb on the week end. Birthdays that were celebrated in • our class recently were: Alex Boyd„ Marty Guikema, and Luc Lemire. • KINDERGARTEN This is a special month for Todd Farrell, Robert Storey .and Clinton Twolan who are 5 years old in October. We enjoyed our Thanksgiving Holiday and are eargerly awaiting Hallowe'en. Ross Hickey and Jeffery Rowell had stitches removed this morning at the hospital. Jeffrey had 5 .stitches while Ross had 2 resulting from a head on collision on their way home last Thursday at noon hour. WHITECHURCH Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mowbray and Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Tiffin were in Brantford on the week end where Mr. and Mrs. Tiffin visited with Mr: and Mrs. Jim Henderson and Mr. and Mrs. Mowbray with Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Seddon. On Sunday they attended the church in Brantford where Rev. V. Wybenga is the preacher. Rev. Wybenga was a former preacher here at Chalmers church. Mt. and Mrs. Elmer Sleightholm recently attended a 25th wedding anniversary celebration held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Sleightholm for Mr. •and Mrs. Nelson Sleightholm. On Wednesday evening Misses Joan and Shirley Tiffin attended the Bank of Montreal meeting and dinner at Walkerton. We are pleased to report that Mr. and Mrs. Jim Curran of West Wawanosh were able to be releas- ed on Saturday from Wingham and District Hospital. Last Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Fells of Whitby were callers on . Mr. and Mrs. Ben McCienag- han. On. Sunday the family of Bill Forster celebrated his 75th birth- day with a dinner at the Anglican Church Hall at Lucknow. Present were Mr. and Mrs, Jack Forster. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Forster, and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hender- son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Perrott and family of Goderich, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Stewart and family of Lambeth; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott and family and their father Bill Forster. St. Peters Anglican Church Women met' in the Parish Hall Tuesday evening, October 15. Mrs. Tom Pritchard, president of the month, presided and opened the meeting with responsive read- ing of Hymn 296 and an Autumn Litany. - The scripture verse was Proverbs 13, verse 24. The roll call was answered by "My newest hobby". The ladies were reminded of the ' Masonic Banquet October 29. The Fall Deanery meeting will be in St. Thomas Church, Walker- ton, November 4. An invitation was read from Trinity United Church to their Fall Thankoffering. meeting. Meditation was conduct- ed by Mrs. Pritchard. A Choir Clinic will be held in Listowel, November 9 and it is hoped a good representation can ,go. The Grace was repeated in .unison. Mrs. Ford Cunningham demon- strated her china painting and: spoke on it as a hobby. This was very interesting and many quest- tions were asked. Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jim McNairn and Karen of Seaforth visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Oscar White. A number of people from here attended the benefit dance for Mr. and Mrs. Ken MacLennan of Ripley who lost all their belongings in the recent fire which destroyed the former Royal Hotel in Ripley. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hamilton and Jennifer of Hanover. and. Mrs. Isabel Gardner of Goderich visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hamilton • and family and Mrs. ' W. R. Hamilton on Sundhy. The Clover Valley 4-H Club held a Hallowe'en Party on Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Harold Elphick and: Lynn in the form of a buffet supper. A number of games were enjoyed afterwards. . the mothers and grandmothers were invited. Mrs. Ray Hamilton and Mrs. David Elphick are the leaders.
