Mr. and Mrs. Robb have a family
of three sons Clifford and D.,avidof
Kinloss and Chester of -Hamilton;
one granddaughter Mrs. Glen
(Lois) Stinson of Hamilton 'and two
great grandchildren.

Wayne Lowry Construction is'
presently involved in two road
projects within the village of
Lucknow:
The contract is divided into two
portions. Work on Inglis Street,
running north from the Sunoco
Garage corner, . includes excavat-
ing, new drainage and resurfacing.
Cost of this work is .$S920.
The second phase of the project
is on Bob Street, running south
from Highway 86 past the public
school and nursing home and on
Elgin Street, which intersects Bob
Street at a"point just north of the
nursing home. The work involves
storm drains, reconstruction and
resurfacing and the cost is $16,226.
The work will be completed this
Fall. Total cost is $25,146 and is
subsidized by the Ministry of
Transportation and, Communica-
tions.
Move To Bruce
Bruce Liberal MP Crawford
Douglas will move from his home in
Wingham to Chesley next June.
A spokesman for Mr. " Douglas
said he had bought a lot in Tower,
Park in Chesley and construction
on a house will begin' next spring.
He and his family will move there.
at the ..end of the school term.
Mr. Douglas was elected for the
first time inthe summer federal
election, and his Wingham home is
not in the Bruce riding.

Miss Helen Harper of Lucknow
passedaway on Wednesday, Oct-

Nursing. Home, Lucknow: She was
in her 89th year. •
The funeral, service was held at
MacKenzie Memorial , Chapel,
Lueknow on Saturday, October
12th.

Lucknow-Tax Rate Up
Slightly Over 3 Mills
Tax rates for the village of
Lucknow were finalized last week
with the setting of the local rate.
Local publicschoolsupporters
will pay an increase of 3.013 mills
over last year. Separate 'school
supporters will pay just under a
mill increase, .996.
The,total commercial tax" rate has
increased; 3.064 mills over last
year.
The local mill rate, the, only
portion over which the Lucknow,
Council has control, increased 2.061
mills in the residential class. The
local .commercial rate increased
2.287 mills,
The local increases were describ-
ed by Reeve George W. Joynt as.

work being undertaken 'by council
because of additional road subsid-
ies becoming available which were
not readilyavailable before.

The 1974 total assessment in
Lucknow is $6,102,695. One trill

Injuries In Two
Vehicle Accident.
A two -car accident occurred on
Thursday of last week about 3.30.
pim. on concession 2 of Culross
Township, about 3 miles west of
number 4 highway.
Cars driven by Mrs. William.,,,
Caslick ofconcession 2, and Dortald
Brooks of Lucknow, were , in
collision. Mrs. Caslick had just let
her husband Bill out of the car, at
their Janeway, and had 'turned east
onto the second when the collision
occurred. The Brooks car was also
proceeding east at•the time and had
just come over a hill which hid view
of the Caslick vehicle. Mrs. Caslick
was not seriously injured, though
badly shaken up.. Her car was
extensively damaged.
One of the occupants . \of the
Brooks car, Janet Gorrie of Wing -
ham had seriousback injuries. She
was taken to Wingham Hospital
and later to London. Donald
Brooks and a -third passenger in his
car were not seriously injured.
Constable Jensen of Walkerton

Narrowly Misses
Being Struck By
Freight Train
Spence Irwin of Lucknow had a
close calf on Wednesday of last
week, narrowly missing being
struck by a freight train on the
second of Kinloss.
Spence was proceeding west on
the 2nd in his loaded gravel truck.
He was en route to the farm of Jim
Thompson.„
Spence was half way 'across the
train track, just west of the
Lucknow-Holyrood road before he
saw the train which was coming
from. Ripley. The noise ofthe truck
prevented hint from hearing the
approaching engine and about five
empty freight -cars.
it was nothingshort of luck
which saved Spence. Driving in
3rd gear at the time. he tramped on
the gas and made it across.
Allan Maclntyre. driving behind
Spence on the 2nd, saw the whole
incident and estimates that the
train missed the truck by only
inches.

Mrs. Frank Maulden of the
Kinlough area of Kinloss Township
received • serious injuries at the
Teesrater Fall Fair on Saturday
when struck by a midway ride
}.named "The Octopus".
The ride, operated by Lcverton
rides of Beantsville. was one of a
number set up behind the grand,
stand. Cars, on the ride in question
went up and down while turning in
•i a circular direction. The circunif-
erence of the circle needed for the
ride t« operate was marked with
short pieces of fence with 'large
gaps in between.
In crossing the grounds. Mrs.
jvlaolden stepped into one of 'the
open areas in the fencing and was
struck by the revolving ride. '

She was reported in much
improved -condition the first of the'
week. She received a fractured'
collarbone, a clad laceration to the
head as well as contusions to the
neck.
