Kinettes Organize Candystripers At
Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Twelve
Gills Ages 11 to 13 Are Giving Time
A, group of. twelve Candystrip-
ers has been formed at Pinecrest
Manor Nursing Home in Lucknow.
The candystripers are girls about
eleven to thirteen years of age who
are doing volunteer work at the
HOrne. -
The Candystripers carry meal
trays, feed some residents, walk
some residents, help with the gift
and tuck sh9p, read to the
residents, write letters for the
residents, help teach crafts and
have •various other duties. They can
work anytime from 10 a.m. to 6
p.m. Monday to Saturday with a
minimum of 2 days per week and a
maximum of.4 days per 'week.

Candystripers had uniforms made.
The Kinette Club presents the
following awards to the girls for
their service: a nurse's cap for 50
hours of service,Ist yellow stripe
for 75 hours, a charm for 100 hours,
2nd yellow stripe for 150 hours, 3rd
yellow stripe for 200 hours, charm
bracelet for 400 hours, white blazer
for SOO hours.
The Candystripers are assigned
a number of the residents to share
his or her birthday by baking a
small cake or cupcake.
There has been two capping
ceremonies when the following
girls received ttieir caps for 50
hours service: Mary Lynn Cayley,
Judy Gollan, Gail Gollan, Lorna
Boyle, Edith Greer, Debbie Bolt,
Grace 'Alton and Sherri Jerome.
Lorna Boyle, Grace Alton and
Sherri Jerome have received their
first stripe. Gail Gollan and Mary
Lynn Cayley have received their 1st
stripe and a charm. Judy Gollan
has two stripes and a charm. Susan

It is fortunate that the engineer
noticed the switch had been
tampered With and was able to
brake the train when he did or nuke
serious damage Or possible injury
or loss of life might have occurred.
Conductor Christman said they
had been over the track two days
before and that the switch must
have been tampered with since
then.
Repair crews worked all after-
noon and with the assistance of
jacks, were able to get the engine
back on the tracks about 8 p.m. that
evening.
The train , proceeded on to
Kincardine,. returning later Thurs-
day evening.
Thompson, Cathy Taylor, Karen
Lindsay and Lori McKim are other
Candystripers.

Dundas, left Toronto Airport on
Monday. September 16th for
France. Greg will enter Dijon
University to study the French
language for one year. He has
attended McMaster University in

will attend one more year on his
return from France. Greg is a
