two-week conducted tour to the
East Coast.
Week end visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Alex Andrew, Lucknow were .
Miss Louise Fair of Elora, who is
studying music at the University of
Western Ontario and Mr. and Mrs.
Allan Andrew of Guelph.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cringle of
Lincoln Park, Michigan, were
recent visitors in Lucknow with
Mrs. Ewart MacPherson and other
relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cook visited
last week in Cochrane with Mrs.
George Hackett. They also visited
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Hackett and
Mr, and Mrs. Egon Anderson. also
-of Cochrane and Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Harrison of Connaught. Mr.
and Mrs. Cook had a wintry trip
home on Sunday with visability
poor at times due to blowing snow.
In the Cochrane district there has
been ' excessive rain and cool
weather, making harvesting pot-
atoes and other crops very difcult.

Bruce Wardens
Sixteen of ,the 23 living past
wardens 'of Bruce County were on
hand Tuesday, September 10th. as
Earl Cranston of Lucknow is
home from .Westminster Hospital,
London, where he was a patient for
eight weeks.
Mrs. Ed Thom of Lucknow has
returned home from Wingham and
District Hospital, where she was a
patient for over three weeks.
Orville Elliott of Lucknow is'
home from Wingham and . District
Hospital, where he was a patient
for two weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Whetham
of Cambridge (Galt) were recent
visitors with Mr. and Mrs. E. W.
Rice of Lucknow.
Mrs. Gerald Wagner was the
winner of a $28 share -the -wealth
prize at the recent Hawick Lions
bingo. She also won a door prize..
Debbie Humphrey of Wingham
won $25 and Mrs. Anderson of.
Lucknow $3 in a dart game.
Wes Joynt of Lucknow returned
to his home last Tuesday after
being hospitalized in Victoria"Hos-
pital, London.

Ontario Supreme Court Justice
Campbell Grant of Walkerton, who
was warden in 1933, is the earliest
surviving council head, but he was
unable to attend.
Henry Lantz of Ncustadt, warden
.in 1938, was the earliest warden on'
hand. Mr. Lantz also has the
distinction of being the only
person to be warden of two Ontario
counties. He was Grey county
warden in 1962.
Other past wardens attending
were Andrew McTavish, Teeswat-
er. 1949; Wilfred Ades, Red Bay,
1950; William Walsh, Kincardine,
1951; William Oswald, Chesley,
1954; Douglas. Kreutzweiser, Hep-
worth, 1961; Harvey Palmateer,
Kincardine. 1963; Chester Emmer-
ton. Huron Township, 1964; Alph-
onse Murray, Kinloss Township.
1966;" Roswell Smith, Amabel
Township, 1968; William Macke,
Mildmay, 1969; Howard Chesney.
Brant Township, 1970;.George
Grant, Paisley. 1971.
Past wardens Wes Joynt and his
son George Joynt of Lucknow, were
unable to be present as was Frank
Field of Teeswater. Wes Joynt is
convalescing following surgery in
London hospital.
Three past wardens still are on
council: John MacKenzie, Bruce
Township,' 1962; Harvey Davis,
Elderslie Township, 1972, and
Vernon Emke; Chesley, 1973.

Mr. Granger lives in Lucknow,
teaches Grade 4
Mrs. Blanchette lives in Goder-
ich, teaches grade 2.

Mr. Granger brought a 6 ft., 5
lb. boa constrictor to school. It
came from South America and
they've' had it for 5 years."
Although it made people uncom-
fortable it was'a new experience for
all of us.
On behalf of Brookside Public

newcomers to the school.

Friday hundreds of students con-
verged on the track to watch the
tug of war between the new staff
and the old staff. Both sides
deserve congratulations.
