to controversy. Mr. and Mrs.
Ted Rice favoured with two songs,
which were enjoyed very much, '1'11
take you home again. Kathleen' and
'Now is the hour' with. Mrs. Garnet
Farrier as accompanist. '
Mr. Murray Gaunt M.P.P.show-
ed a film; 'The Representative of
the people' which showed the task
that the representatives have to
govern the province and. especially
the importance of a good opposi-
tion. Mrs. W. F. MacDonald
thanked Mr. Gaunt and presented
him with a small gift.
Mrs. Leddy closed the meeting
with a poem, 'Friends like you' and
'The Queen' was sung. Lunch was
served by the hostesses Mrs. 'R.
Leddy, Mrs. B. Adams, Mrs. G.
Kennedy, Mrs.W. F. MacDonald.

The Ripley Wornen's Institute
was held at the Legion Hall on
September 6 at 1.30 with desert
and coffee. Mrs. Graham Cook,
President , then conducted the
business

McCharles and Mrs. Annie Scott.
Each member is to take 1 pie to ,.
the booth for the fair. Mrs'. Don-

At the Senior 'training school,
Mrs. Nick Peet and Mrs. Betty
Scott were appointed the leaders.
Mrs. Donald Blue had the
program for the meeting and Joan
Osborne, Connie Boyle and Debbie
Gamble giving piano selections.
Mrs. Annie Scott and Mrs. Ade-
line Hackett told about the Lib-
rary from its early days to the
present time and also how books
are so important for references.
Mrs. Frank Scott gave the cour-
tesy remarks.

Clover .Valley
Party Pals
The second meeting of'the
Clover Valley 4-H club was held
at the home of Wendy Hamilton
on Thursday, September 12th at
/ 7.15'. The president opened the
meeting with the 4-H pledge and
all the 9 members answered the
roll call.
The minutes of the last meet-
ing were' read by Annette Elphick.
They had a'vote• and their name'is
'Clover Valley Party Pals". The
next meeting is being held at
the horde 'of Kendra Elphick on'
Tuesday, September 17th .at 7.15.
The meeting was turned over to
the leaders who led in discussion
of family meals, table setting
and service, and table manners.
Both leaders also demonstrated
table settings and service, and
table manners. For group work
each girl practised table service
and manners.
We closed the meeting with the
4--H creed and;a delicious lunch
of juice and cakes was served by
the hostess.
The Entertainers
Thesecond meeting of the
Lucknow # I 4-11 Club took place
on September 12 at 7.00 p.m.
in the biome Economics Room at
the Lucknow Central Public
School. Two leaders and ten
members were preseit.
The president , Nancy Ritchie,
called the meeting to order and
everyone repeated the 4-H
fledge. The club's name ,
The Entertainers, was voted in
with a majority.
Elizabeth Ritchie and Mrs. Bern•
adean Ritchie discussed Family
Meals, Table Setting and Table
Manners with the members. Eliza-
beth Ritchie demonstrated the
proper way to set a table.
Nancy Ritchie and Marion John-
stone demonstrated how to make
chili con carne. Audrey Ritchie
and June Alton served delicious
toasted bacon and cheese open .
sandwiches. Nancy Alton and
Joanne Ritchie set a lovely table
and served the two dishes for the
ibeal. The meeting was closed
with the 4-H Creed.

The 2nd meeting of Dungannon
2 4-H club was held at the home
of Mrs. Howard Culbert on Sept-
ember 9. It was decided the next
meeting will be held at Mrs. Ivan
Rivett's 'on September 16. Mrs.
Rivett discussed family .meals, tab,
le setting and service. Mrs. Cul-
bert demonstrated table setting -
and service. , Group work was
setting an attractive table. The
president adjourned the meeting.
Officers elected were President,
Frances Logtenberg; Vice Presid-
ent, Barbara Snowden; Treas -
urer, •, Dorothy Culbert. The posi-
tion

to member.

held on Thursday, September 12
at Marilyn Rhody's house. •Thir-
teen girls answered the roll call
"Why I like to entertain".
The leaders discussed table
setting and how to serve meals.
Mrs. Rhody demonstrated measur-
ing' methods. The next meeting
will be held on Wednesday Sept-
ember 19 at 7.15 p.m.

Zippy Trinettes
The second meeting of the
Zippy Trinettes was held Tues-
day September 10th in the Church
basement.. Vice president Karen.
Campbell called the meeting to
order and all the girls repeated
the 4-H pledge. The roll call
"'Why I like toEntertain" was
answered by 15 members.
The business followed. Donna
Hackett read the minutes of the
first meeting and Susan Irvin read
the secretary's minutes. Home
assignments for 'last meeting were
discussed. Mary Ann Alton pres-
ented her ideas for the new 4-1-1
covers for the members to a ioose
from. She is to bring a finished
cover to the next rneeting.
This meeting had the sweet
scent of flowers in the room as
all the members were to bring
a flower arrangement for a dining -
room table , to be judged as.an
extra activity tohelp club mem-
bers in judging flower arrange-
ments.
Mrs. D. A. Hackett discussed
table service and table appoint-
ments,. setting the table and serv-
inga meal, formal and buffet
style. Mrs. D. Cameron discus-
sed china ,, glass and manners at
the table.
Group work was practised by
all members participating in
serving and being served with •the
proper table 'banners.
The meeting was closed by all
members standing and repeating
the 4-H motto "Learn to do by
doing".
