Died At Midland
Mrs, James A. Stewart passed
away Thursday , September 12th at
St. Andrew's Hospital, Midland,
Ontario.
She was the former Audrey Anna
Horne:, beloved wife :of James A.
Stewart', 349 Second Street Mid-
land , and mother of Mrs. David
(Glenda) Newland of Coldwater
and .NancyStewart at home. She.
was the daughter of Mrs. Min-
nie Horne of Toronto, formerly
of Lucknow , and the late Leroy
Horne who passed away in 1933.
She is a sister of Mrs. R. C. (Lil-
lian) Hodge of Toronto. She was
predeceased by a brother David in
1951.
Mrs., Stewart was born in Luck -
now on December 24th, 1917,
where she attended Public and
High School and took a business
course in Toronto. She was
married to James Stewart in June.
1943; resided in Toronto before
moving to Midland where they'
have lived for a number of years.
Her body was donated to Medic-
al Science and a Metnorial Ser-
vice was held at the Nicholl's
Funeral Home in Midland on Sept-
ember 14.

GRADE FIVE
Grade 5 is in a portable class-
room, It has plenty of room for
the thirty -one pupils we have. On
the warm days we keep the doors
and windows shut and turn on the
air conditioner. This helps to
keep us more comforable. We
welcome three new boys to our
grade Frank .Emerson, 10th con-
cession east , Terry Schoot , Point
Clark and Ross Stewart who will
soon live in a new home in Ripley.
KINDERGARTEN
This year •in. Kindergarten we
have 23 in both our morning and
afternoon class. As in the past
there are more boys than girls.
This week we are talking about
our family and our homes. Next
week we shall be learning about
safety.

Dies In 84th Year
MRS. CHARLES STEWARD
The death of Mrs. Charles Stew-
ard of Lucknow occurred in Wing -
ham and District Hospital on Sat-
urday , September 7th following a
lenthy illness.
Mrs. Steward , who was in her
84th year , was the former Mabel
Annie Houghton , and was born in
Essex, England on December 7 ,
1890.
In March 1911 she married Char-
les Geoffrey Steward. They
were married in Wingham.
Following their marriage they re-
sided in West Wawanosh for a
time before moving to Lucknow.
Mrs. Steward was a member of
Lucknow Presbyterian Church; a
member of Lucknow. Women's In-
stitute for over 50, years and a
past president; a member, of Luck -
now Lawn Bowling Club for. some
40 years and a past president; Past
Noble Grand of Rebecca Lodge,;
a member of the Lucknow Horti-
culture Society , Town and Count-
ry Club and the Lucknow Alley
Bowling Club,
The funeral service was held
at MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow, on Monday, September
9th with Rev. Glenn Noble as
minister •
Interment .was in. Greenhill
Cemetery.,
Pallbearers were three grand-
sons,
rand-sons, Brian Henderson, Bill
Cuming and Keith McCreary , two
nephews Allan Stewart and Joe
Fludder and William Porteous.
Flower bearers were Barry Beech
Lorne Farrish , Jack Henderson,
James McNaughton, Thompson
Mc Pherson..
Mrs. Steward is survived by
three daughters Mrs. Hugh (Stella)
Curring, Mrs. Reg (Verna) Sher-
wood , both of London and Mrs.
Charles (Zylda) Henderson of Tor-
onto; also five grandchildren and
two great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her hus-
band in 1963 and two sons Freder-
ick in February 1972 and Gordon
in November 1972..Both were of
London.

Clinton Centre
Bruce D. Bjorkquisthas been
appointed Chairman of the Clinton
Centre of . Conestoga College of
Applied Arts and Technology,
Collegefficials recently announc-
ed. Mr. Bjorkquist has been
employed at the Clinton Centre
since the autumn of ,1971) Mr.
Bjorkquist has been Coordinator of
Applied Arts and a counsellor at
the centre. He has taught English
in the Academic Upgrading pro-
gram, and both English and
Psychology in the post secondary
Secretarial Science program. Prior
to accepting a position in Clinton,
Mr. Bjorkquist taught English at
the Waterloo Centre of Conestoga
College.
As a lay pastor in the Lutheran
Church, Mr. Bjorkquisthas served
congregations in New Hamburg,
Tavistock, Dashwood and Exeter.,
Since moving to Goderich, he has
been instrumental in the esstab-
lishment of a new Lutheran con-
gregation serving the Goderich/-
Clinton area.
In addition to • a strong academic
background, Mr. Bjorkquist brings
industrial experience to the chair-
man's office. He has worked for
Rinshed Mason Company of Can-
ada (lnmont), Windsor, and J. M
Schneider Limited, Kitchener.
