The Kens lived in Lucknow 'about 22 years ago for the summer season while he work- ed for Warren Construction when paving was being done in the area. Cliff died six years ago. Joe King, Culross, who spent the past few weeks in Wingham Hospital, is ableto be home and is much improved in health. Mrs. Sadie Hamilton and Mrs. Joan•Robinson of Lucknow visited on Sunday with Mrs. Emily Robin- son, obin-son, Goderrich. Orland Richards of Lucknow re- turned home on Tuesday of last week froth University Hospital, London. where he was a patient for a week and underwent surgery. His sister Mrs. Clare MacDougall of Elesherton was a visitor in Lucknow with him last week. • Mr. and Mrs.. Delbert Nixon and family of Stratford spent last week, end with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Nixon, Belfast. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Nicholson of Lucknow spent a. week with their son, Ken Nicholson, his wife Joyce and their family at Shel- burne. On their way home they spenta week with their daughter. Donalda, Mrs. W. R. Smith, her husband and their son Robbie at Seaforth. They returned home Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver MacChar-. les of R. R. 3 Lucknow , Mr. and Mrs. Omar Brooks of Lucknow and Mrs. Ann Mason of Kincardine re- turned Sunday from Manitoulin " Island, where they had been for four days judging at their two-day fair at Manatawaning, which in- cluded the choosing of the beauty queen who will attend the C.N.E. in 1975. In colourful Individual pliofden bag ' BARN BURNS CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1 Fire , breaking out about 7 p.m. on Saturday, completely levelled the large barn on the property as well as a driving shed to the north. Lost in the blaze were a tractor with front-end loader, a half dozen chickens, half dozen. ducks, 2248 bales of hay and a small quantity of straw. Lost from the driving shed were a post hole auger, sprayer, fertilizer and all the small farm tools. A few items were saved from the driving shed. Two silos stood to the south of the barn. The large silo was not damaged. Some damage resulted to the small silo. A large shed to the south-east was saved and, firemen also kept the house wetted down as• it was in the path of embers carried by the stiff wind blowing at the time. A swimming pool on the proper- ty was a source of water supply for Lucknow Fire Department. The Ripley -Huron water tanker truck was called in to assistand they replenished the supply of wat• er in the pool with their tanker. Mrs. Card and her sister-in-law and the children were at home at the time. Mr. Card arrived home about 7.45, p.m. at the height of the fire. Mr.. and Mrs. Card plan to re- build their barn and hope to have Family Dinner On 25th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Harvey. Ritchie celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Sunday, September 15th with 80 attending a family smorgasbord dinner at Brookside School. Mrs. Ritchie was the former Betty Haines of .Wingham. They have two daughters and two sons. Donna of Owen Sound , Elva of Wingham , Bryan and Mel at home: Also present were Harvey's five. sisters and one brother Mrs. Nel- son Raynard , Lucknow; Mrs. Jean Papernick, Goderich; Mrs. Robert Irvin, Dungannon; Mrs. Elmer Wall,' Teeswater; Mrs. Jim Smith, Molesworth; Eldon Ritchie , R. R. 3 Lucknow; and Betty's two sisters. Mrs. Bert Wylie, Fordwich and Mrs. John MacLean of Wroxeter; with all members of their families. some type of structure 'up before winter. The children; playing outside at the time, were the first to not- ice ot-ice the fire. While it is not • known for sure , it, is' believed that combustion in the hay caused the outbreak. The barn was beyond saving in a matter of minutes and was a raging inferno by the time firemen arrived at the scene. fi
