County Position
The appointment of Daniel J.
Rose as Area Coordinator and Farm
Management,. Specialist, with
headquarters at Markdale , has
been- announced by T. R; Hilliard ,
Deputy Minister, Ontario Ministry
of Agriculture and Foou.
Mr. Rose is a 1960 graduate of
the Ontario Agricultural College

Sold To Listowel
Business Man
A change of ownership has taken
place at Lucknow Bowling Alley.
Ernie. Webb of Listowel, prop-
rietor of Listowel Lanes , has pur-
chased the building and business
from Dave Sproul of Lucknow who
has operated the Lucknow Bowl
for the past two years.
The new name in Lucknow will
be Lucky Wood Lanes. By the
end of this week, the Lucknow
laneswill be 'completely automat-
ic. Besides his bowling interests,

Mr. Webb is owner of a pool'
room in Listowel and is in the
trophy and engraving business.
Mr. Webb plans to introduce
Youth Bowling Council and Ont-
ario Bowling Congress bowling to
Lucknow
The Lucknow business will be a
member of the Bowling Proprietors
Assoc. of Canada. Mr'. Webb is
president of the local zone of this
association covering from Colling-
wood to Goderich and Owen

Reunion Shows Profit. Of
$18,983, Community
Projects To Benefit
The executive committee of
Lucknow Reunion, "Let's Roar in
74" , met on September 6th to
wind up financial details of the•
very successful reunion on the July
1st week end.
The net profit of the reunion
was, $18,983.09 with details spell-
ed out in a statement in this issue.
The financial report was presented
by treasurer A. E. Herbert. Barry
McDonagh was the reunion chair-
man.
The following decisions were
reached 'concerning the profit from
the, week end. All were designat-
ed for community projects.
- Pay off balance on Swimming
Pool, $9,273.20 has already been
cleared off and when a cover for
the pool costing .$1100.00 has been
delivered and paid for, the ,Pool
twill be clear of debt.
- New lights are required in the
Ball Park. These are to be instal-
led at an estimated cost of
$3500.00.

Single Car Accident Takes
Life Of Bob Watson
Robert Watson, 30 -year-old res-
ident of Ashfield Township, died
on Saturday night in a single car
:accident on the 10th concession of
Ashfield.
Bob .left home about 9.45 Satur•
day eveningenroute to Arnold's
Store at Lanes. It is thought that
a blown tire on the car caused the
automobile to veer off the gravel
road on the 10th and *into the
south ditch; Alone, at the time ,
he sustained injuries which proved
to be fatal. It was about 4.30
a.m. when the car was discovered
by some neighbourhood young
men. Indications at the accident.-

Residents of Ashfield Township
for the past six months, Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Card suffered a heavy
loss by fire on Saturday night of
last •week. .
Mr. and. Mrs. Card and children
Billy 6 and Lisa 4 live on the form
er Donald Farrish farm ; on the
sideroad , just south of the 12th
concession. They purchased the
farm from Mr. and Mrs. Parrish
and moved here from Oil Springs
on March 16th of this year. The
Cards are farming -525 acres. •Mr.
and Mrs. Farrish now live in a new
prom e' on the 12th.

Family Ot 8 In Horse Drawn Buggy
Injured When Struck By Automobile
A West Wawanosh Township
family , riding in' a horse drawn
buggy , were involved in a serious
accident south of Belfast on the
County road on Sunday evening
about 8.45 p.m.
A car driven by William G. Tut'
ton of Palmerston, proceeding
north , struck the rear of the buggy
driven by Joni Shetler of West
Wawanosh, also northbound. The
Shetler family live on the former
Harvey Webb farm on the 12th,
concession.
Riding in the Shetler buggy were
Joni 26; his wife Mary . age 30;
their children Alma , age 4; Lewis
age 3; Noah, age 2 and Elizabeth,
age 8 months; also his parents
Dan Shetler , 64 and Jamime , age
62 of R. R. 1 Norwich who were
visiting with their' 'son and family
for a few days.
The two women and the female
children were riding in the back
seat of the buggy while the men
and two boys were in the front.
Force of theimpact threw. Mrs. •
Mary Shetler and the infant Eliza-
beth a considerable distance up
the roadway. She received multi•
ple abrasions, head lacerations
and a broken arm. The infant
Elizabeth received a fractured
skull and internal injuries and
was transferred to a London Hos-
pitalin serious condition. Mrs.
Jamime Shetler received multiple
abrasions, injured right eye , pos-
sible fractured ribs and internal
injuries and was hospitalized in
Wingharn in serious condition.
The younger Mrs. Shetler returned
home from hospital on Monday.

Double Trouble
In Kinloss Family
It was'a bad week for the Henry
Harterninkfamily of the second of
Kinloss. On Tuesday of last week.
Henry received a 2 -stitch gash
when the manure spreader threw
up a stone and struck him on the
head.
Henry -was driving the tractor
at the time and while stunned ,
he fortunately did not fall off the
machine or his injuries might
have been. more severe.
Mr. and Mrs. Ilartcniink were
confronted with further problems
the following day when their
daughter lvonne , a grade ti stud-
ent at Lucknow Central Public
School, fell off the horizontal
bars at school and fractured her
arrn just below the shoulder. Un-
able to set the injury in Wingharn.,
she was taken to London' Hospital
for treatment. She is now home.
A further accident on. Friday at
the school saw Darlene Fiowald,
daughter.of Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Howald of Lucknow , also fracture
her arra .on the horizontal bars at
the school. Darlene is in grade 5.

Takes The Office
- At a meeting of the Lucknow
Town and Country Club on Sept-
ember 10th. the 'resignation of the
president Aubrey Higgins of Dun-
gnnon was regretfully accepted.
Mr. 1-liggins has served very
capably for one and a half years but
feels his health will not permit him
to continue.
P. A Murray of Holyrood, vice
president,. took the • chair and
Wilfred Drennan of Lucknow was
appointed vice president.
Robert Fisher gave a very
encouraging treasurer's report.
Cards and lunch 'finished off the
evening's programme.
