KINLOUGH NEWS
The annual meeting of the
Bible Society was held on Mon-
day evening in the Presbyterian
Church with over 40 in attendance.
Walter Breckles presided and ex-
tended a welcome to everyone
and especially the Rev. A. F.
Cowan.
Pastor Van Slightenhorst led in
prayer and the opening hymn was
"I love to tell the story". Gord-
on MacDonald read the scripture.
Four junior girls from the Presby-
terian church sang "Amazing
Grace". Mrs. Jack Scott from
the Anglican church read an ap-
propriate poem, "The Bible tells
me so". The Slightenhorst sisters
favoured with two songs from the
Pentecostal church. Rev. A. F.
Cowan spoke on the work of the
Bible Society. He visited many
countries during the year and
he told of the work that was being
,done in these places and also the
need for the scriptures. He show-
ed a splendid film "The new
spring in coppermfne" which is
work among the Eskimo,. An
Ecumenical service was held
when people had come for miles
to attend, and the scriptures
were given to these people at a, /
cost of *1.00. Following the film
Mrs. Jim McEwan. from Kinlbss
United Church favoured with two
lovely accordian numbers and Mrs.
Jack Barr and Mrs. Glen Halden-
by from. the W. M.S. sang a pleas-
ing duet. The organist was Mrs.
Bill MacPherson and the closing
hymn was "Tell me the stories of
Jesus". Bob Hodgins received the
offering and gave the prayer. Rev.
Cowan closed this part of the
meeting with prayer and the Bene
diction.

helped with the program. Follow-
ing the closing prayer Mrs. Mauld
en announced that the offering
for the evening was $37.75.
The meeting next year will be
held in the Kinlough Penticostal
Church.
