Contracts, Receive Requests Re Dogs
The August session of West
Wawanosh .Township Cbuncil was
held in the Hall on Tuesday,
August 6. All -Members attended,
Reeve Lyons presided.
The minutes of the July meet-
ing were read and adopted on mo-
tion of Councillors Hickey and
Foran.
A discussion on the Pounds Act
took place, and as a result the
Clerk was instructed towrite the
Poundkeepers to request their
attendance at the September
meeting.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Cranston
attended the meeting with regard
to fencing along their field ad-
jacent to road construction on
Sideroad 18-19, Concession 7.
By -Law No. 6, 1974, was given
third reading and finally passed
on motion of Councillors Durnin
and Hickey. This by-law author-
izes thc payment to owners for
damages to fences removed dur-
ing road construction.
Two applications for tile drain-
age loans on Lots 16 and the W1/2
17, Concession 9, were examined
by Council and accepted on mo-
tion of Councillors Rutherford •
and Hickey.
A letter, and signatures of the
St. Helens Women's Institute
members, were presented to Coun-
cil, The Clerk was instructed to
Write the Institute to the effect
that West Wawanosh Council has
taken adtion to try to bring do,s
in the municipality under more
strict control.
A letter and report from the
Waste Management Branch of the
Ministry of the Environment re-
garding the Township's waste dis-
posal site was presented to Coun-
cil. A meQng with representa-
tives from the. Ministry and Coun
cii was recommended.
Three tenders for hauling "B"
gravel to the road construction
on Sideroad 18-19 were opened.
Motion by Councillors Foran and
Durnin: "That• West Wawanosh
Township Connell accept the tend-
er of Mac Wylie Construction,
• Wroxeter, for loading and hauling
• pit -run gravel, at 330 and 480,
subject to approval by the Ministry
Of Transportation and Communica-
tions." Carried.
• Council examined , briefly, the
1973 Audit Report, and 1974Bud-
get prepared by the Clerk and
Treasurer. It was decided, due to
the extreme lateness of the -hour,
•to hold •a special meeting on
August 13th to deal with the Bud-
get and consider 1974 mill rates.
• The road accounts were ordered
paid on motion of Councillors

Ashfield Lady
• Died In 85th Year
MRS., ISAAC CRANSTON
Mrs. Isaac Cranston of R. R. 2
Lucknow passed away in Wingham
and District Hospital on Monday.
August 26th, in her 85th year.
She was the former Salena Ruby
Cooke and was born on May
29,1890 in West Wawanosh Town-
ship, a daughter of Samuel Cooke
and Mary Anne •Raynard.
Mrs. Cranston was twice 'mar-
ried. She was predeceased -by her
'first husband Samuel Thompson in
1922. She married Isaac Cranston
on June 29th, 1928. He died in
1959. She was also predeceased
by two brothers Samuel Cooke
and William Cooke.
Mrs. Cranston is survived by.
two daughters, Mrs. Livingston
(Pearl) Menary, Mrs. Jerry (Cora)
Cranston, Jne son Keith Cranston,
all of Ashfield Township; three
stepdaughters Mrs. Agnes Durnin
of Sarnia, Mrs. Norman (Nellie)
Kerr of Waterloo, Mrs. Harold
(Mary) Hackett of Montreal and
one step -son Jerry Cranston of
Ashfield; twelve grandchildren,
7 great grandchildren; one brother
Chris Cooke of West Wawanosh
and three sisters, Mrs. Herb
(Myrtle) McQuillin of Kinloss
Township, Mrs. Frank(Mary)
Glenn of Dungannon and Mrs.
Hugh (Dolly) Menary of Ashfield.
The funeral service was held on
Thursday, August 29th at MacKen:
zie Memorial Chapel, Lucknow.
Rev. A. Cook of Trinity United
Church, of which the deceased
was a member, was minister.
Mrs. Cranston was a life member
of Blake's W. M.S. and a charter
member of Blake's United Church
Women.
Interment was in Greenhill Cem-
etery.
pallbearers were six grandsons,
Ivan Cranston, Brian Cranston,
Leonard Durnin, Leroy Hackett ,
Murray Krajaefski, Robert Dodkin.
• Flower bearers were Ron Menary,
Russel Irvin, Harold Cooke, Bud
Glenn, Cliff Kilpatrick.
KINGSBRIDGE
Leona Hogan,, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. John Howard , is enrolled
at Mohawk College , Hamilton,
taking a Lab Technician course.
Her classes began Tuesday, Sept-
ember 3.
Fay Hogan has returned to her
position as a Food Supervisor at
the Psychiatric Hospital, Owen
Sound after spending the summer
months convalescing from a recent
illness.
The kingsbridge Yout'i Club and
several other young people of St.
Joseph's Parish, enjoyed an even-
ing of roller skating at the Luck -
