Going to the school door he was met with flames from •a pile of shavings and the inside wall starting to blaze. They used, their jugs of drinking water , then Ronran to the home of John McMurchy across from the school for more water. Later John him- self brought over a pail and they were able to extinguish it. Per- haps .a spark from an emery stone used earlier in sharpening the saw blade settled unnoticed into the shavings. Morrison MacKenzie and this reporter arrived a few minutes later and all shavings and smoldering materials were remov- ed from the building. It is quite fortunate that the building is still standing.
