W.M.S.
The August meeting of South
Kinloss Women's Missionary Soc-
iety was held, at the home of Mrs.
Philip Steer with 21 members and
2 visitors present. The Bible
Study from Collossians was con-
ducted by Mrs. Bruce Hamilton.
A duet by Lois Hanna and Bever-
ely Bell was enjoyed. The offer-
ing was received and the Offertory
Prayer by Mrs. Douglas Graham.
Mrs. Evan Keith gave a most int-
eresting review of the Glad
Tidings. Mrs. Don Bell conduct-
ed a number of Bible Quizs. The
roll call was "Rest". •
Readings by Mrs. Philip Steer
followed "1 am so Tired" and
"Take Time". A solo "Let there
be Peace" by Mrs. Don 13e11 was
enjoyed. Mrs. Ted, Collyer, Mrs.
• Harold' Austin, Mrs . Harry Lavis
took .part in the Prayer Circle.
•Courtesy remarks were by Mrs.
Schmidt. The closing•hym 606
• was sung and prayer by Mrs, Leon-
ard Mc/Innes.
Grace was,sung and lunch serv-
ed by the directors Mrs. Don Bell
and Mrs. Alvin Schmidt.

The August meeting of the Kin -
lough Presbyterian Women's Mis,
sionary Society was held at the
home of Mrs. Jack Barr,
Mrs. Ruth Wilson opened the
meeting with a reading followed
by the singing of hymn 567. The,.
W. M.S. purpose was repeated.
The roll call was answered by
your favourite Bible verse. Mrs.
Wilson gave the Missionary report
on Rev John Bucanan. A film
was then shown. Program conven-
ers were Mrs'. Gordon McDonald
and Mrs. Don Bushell..
The program began with sing-
ing hymn 437, Take time to be
holy. Scripture was read by Mrs.
Don Bushell and Mrs. Gordon Mc-
Donald led in prayer. The pro-
gram Theme was people fully
human. This took the form of a
dialogue with Mrs. Don Robertson,
Mrs. Gordon McDonald and Mrs.
Don Bushell taking part. A dis
cussion followed with ladies being
divided into 3 groups. Mrs.Mc-
Donald had prepared questions
and the ladies answered and discus•
sed these.. Readings were given
by Mrs. Jack Barr and Mrs. Gord-
on McDonald.
Mrs. John Barr presented the
history of the First Presbyterian
'Church in Grand Prairie and its
first minister Dr', Forbes, who
later ministered in Teeswater.
She showed pictures that she had
taken on her recent trip with her
granddaughter Margaret Bushell,
where they visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Percy Barr.
Mrs.•Tom McDonald gave the
courtesy remarks.. Mrs. Don Bush-
ell closed with prayer. Grace
was -sung and a tasty lunch was
served by the hostess and Mrs.
Glen Haldenby..

August Meeting
The picnic meeting of the Luck -
now Presbyterian W. M.S. was to
have been held August 7 on the
church grounds but due to the fact
that many of the Ladies could not
come, the picnic part was can-
celled sb only the worship part of
the meeting was held.
The meeting opened with the
call to worship and a short poem
by president Mrs. James Little
followed by..the singing of hymn
451, • The,Bible Study was given
by Mrs. Austin Loree. Hymn 105
was sung after which Mrs. Maud
'Sherwood led in prayer. Little
Miss Loreelavored with a solo:
accompanied by her mother.
The topic was given by Mrs.
Olive Kennedy. She reviewed the
comparable events that havetak-
en place down through the years
from Moses' time to the present.
Letters of thanks and apprecia-
tion A.4 ere read by the secretary
from those for whom the Ladies
served refreshments. The offer-
ing was received and dedicated by
Mrs. Little,' -

Mrs. Kennedy read a poem
written by Miss Hope Smith in
memory of her -father Rev. Dr.
Oswald Smith's (of Toronto)
Golden Jubilee as a minister of
the Gospel. The meeting closed
with hymn 431 and closing prayer
by Mrs. Morgan Henderson. Pres-
ide', Mrs. James Little treated
those present to a cup of tea with
cake and ice cream for which a
hearty vote•of thanks was given
by all.

Your Eyes. The aim and Purpose
of the W. M.S. was fepeated by
all.
The scripture and meditation
was given by Mrs. Wallace Conn.
Prayer was given by Mrs. Earl
Caslick.

Mrs. W. R. Purdon gave a poem,

ber meeting.
A reading was giVen by Mrs.
Wes Tiffin. This was a compari-
son of life to a flower bed which
has to be watered every day. A•
poem was read, Joyful Gardening.
All then sang Sing to the Lord of
Harvest. Minutes were read by
the secretary , Mrs. Craig , and she
gave an article The Flute of
Happiness. Offering was receiv-
ed and dedicated by Mrs. W. R.
Purdon. Mrs. Bill Rintoul read a
poem Our Thanks to Thee: The
singing of "What a Friend we Have
in Jesus" and prayer by Mrs. Wm.
Rintoul closed the meeting.
The Ladies Aid meeting was
then held. Mrs. W. R. Purdon,,
Friendship and Service
Convener , was given $5 to be,
used for stamps and cards: The
offering was received and the
meeting closed repeating the
Lord's Prayer in unison. Grace
was sung and the hostess served
lunch. The courtesy remarks
were given by Mrs. Wallace
Conn.

Society ladies held their summer
meeting in the church' basement,
August 21st.
Mrs. Allan''/viacDonald opened
the meeting and Mrs: Ewan Mac-
Lean presented Mrs. Colin Mac -
Gregor with a birthday corsage./
Prayer followed. Hymn 708 was
sung and the Purpose was
repeated. •.
Roll call "A famous woman and
her contribution to Society" was
answered by 13 membersand 3 vis.
itors. Scripture taken from Luke
was read by Mrs. lien West'. Med-
itation "Home In Bethany" was
given by Mrs. Allan MacDonald
followed by 'prayer.
•A reading "Recipe for Happi-
ness" was presented by Mrs. Jim
West, who also gave a pOem orr
"Marthas".
Mrs. Duncan Farrish had a
reading "Our Daily Bread" and
,Mrs. Duncan Simpson had a quiz
on "Food of the Bible". Mrs.
Allan MacDonald gave a poem
"House, or Home" followed by
hymn 472.
The business part of the meeting
was conducted by Mrs. Jim West.
Discussion was held on a banner
to•be made by the W. M.S. A
committee of Mrs. Warren Wylds,
Mrs. -Alvin Robb and Mrs. Jim
West were appointed to look at
types of materials.
Offertory prayer was given by
Mrs. Duncan Simpson, hymn 666
was sung and the closing prayer
was given by Mrs. Duncankrnp-,
son. Grace was sung and lunch
and a social time followed.

Volunteers for the afternoon
were Mr, and Mrs. Elmer Dale.
The Kingsbridge C. W.L. were
hosts for the July Birthday Party
on Wednesday afternoon. Thirty-
three celebrants received gifts
following the program and 150 res-
idents and guests enjoyed a social
half hour with lemonade and cook•
ies served by the ladies. Mrs.
Clem Steffler was emcee for the
program which included a vocal
trio by Luille , Donna and Marg-
aret Frayne, solos by Dianne
Van Rooy, Irish jig by Mary -Jo
Steffler and Joanne Crawford,
Highland Fling Lisa Frayne, read-
ings by Father Karl and a sing -a-
long by Mrs. Steffler. Tom Herm-
an, who celebrated his ninetieth
birthday on Wednesday, thanked
the ladies on behalf of the resid-
ents. '
Everyone at the Home were
able to enjoy the 'Clinton Legion
Pipe Band on "Family Night" on
the front lawn.
