Andrew4ane Picnic eId In Ashfjeld
The annual Andrew -Lane picnic
was held on the regular date, the
second Sunday of.August , at the
Ashfield Park. The weather pro-
bability for the day was cloudy
with possible showers,, which may
have caused some regular attend,
ers not to be present. However
all who did attend will agree it
was a yery pleasant get-to-
gether.
The junior members of the clan
willingly volunteered to illustrate
several old time song titles.. As
they displayed their pieces of art
the other members of the family
guessed the song titles. Hugh
Lane and Mrs. BillAndrew tied in
this contest. A novelty balloon
contest had five couples taking
part in it. Each man blew a
balloon to the size of his partner's
head. Donald and. Shirley Stoth-
ers won this as Donald blew his
balloon to the exact measurement
of Shirley's head size.
A schedule of races for the
children was run off before a light
shower hurried everyone into the
picnic pavilion where a delicious
picnic supper served smorgasbord
style was'enjoyed by all.
President Girvin Reed held a
business meeting after supper.
The minutes of the last picnic
were read. The names of four
members of the family who had
passed on during the year were
John McDonald, Fred McQuillan,
Graydon Ritchie and Dr. Carmen
Stothers. A minute's silence was
observed in their memory.
