Mich- ael John Murphy 'were• united in marriage on June 29 in the Pine River United Church at 4 o'clock in the afternoon The bride .is the daughter of, Mr, and Mrs. Robert Courtney, R. R. # 1, Ripley. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Murphy of Chatham., Rev. Peter Renner officiated at the double -ring ceremony. Candles, which were lit by Michael Courtney , brother of the. bride; bowls of pink peonies and a basket of summer flowers - shasta daisies and gladioli, decor- ated the altar. Wedding music was played by Mrs. Lynn Lowry at the organ and Mrs. Ernie Gib- son at the piano. .The trio of Mrs. Dianne Rotteau, Sandra and Linda Kempton sang 'Bless This House' and :T.he Marriage Hymn'. Given in marriage by •her father. the bride wore a hand -made floor - length gown of white polyester, satin with long sleeves. The bod- ice and sleeves were .covered with floral lace with pearl seed buttons at the wrists. The dress train was also attached at the waist with seed pearl buttons. Her headpiece was a Juliet cap which held in place a floor -length illusion veil of tulle. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses and white carna- tions. Margaret Anne Courtney, cous- in of the bride, was maid of honour; Linda Murphy , sister of The groom , Pauline Bonvarlez friend of the bride and Shannon • Lee Courtney, sister of the bride were bridesmaids. Their dresses were all of blue and white check polyester gingham with white' floral ,stitching', made in a prin- cess style with short bell sleeves. They wore short white gloves, drop pearl necklaces and carried white baskets filled with'pink and white carnations and shasta daisies. Pat Faubert of Chatham was. groomsman. Ushers were Bob Carmichael of Kitchener, friend of the groom and ,Dennis and Pat Courtney, brothers of the bride. They all wore matching tuxedos of royal.blue with dark blue vel- vet trim, white shirts and blue vel- vet bow ties. Bagpipe music was enjoyed when Piper Murray McDonald of Ripley piped the Wedding Party and guests from the church over to the Reids Corners Community Hall for_ the wedding dinner and reception.. The bride's mother wore a floor -length sleeveless gown of creamy -vanilla polyester with beaded collar. The groom's , mother wore a floor -length gown of yellow polyester with white V- shaped collar. Their corsages were bronze mums. Jim Bradley, friend of the fam- ily, acted as Master of Ceremon- ies with George McDonald, uncle of the bride, saying Grace and Ellwood Irwin. uncle of the bride, giving the toast to the bride. Following the reception and. dance, with •music provided by the Glenn Boyd Orchestra and Cliff Emmerton, the young couple left for their wedding -trip, the bride dressed in a two-piece blue and white polka-dot dress with white accessories.' Mike and Wendy are residing in Ingersoll where the groom is em- ployed in the Engineering Depart- ment. Dawn Fludder of Lucknow is ' spending this week with Mr.. and Mrs. Ray Hamilton while her parents are on holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Howe of Listowel visited during the week end with. Mr, and Mrs. Walter Black and family and also'attend- ed the Craft Festival in Lucknow. Mr. and Mrs. David King of . Mr. Tarso Karantonis:and friends of Toronto.,spent part of the holiday week end at the former's home here. Bill and David Black of London were home with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Black, for the week end. Mr. and Mrs.. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar White and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Moore and family of Ripley attended the Steam Threshers Reunion at ' Cooks- town on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Deicer of Hepworth visited on Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Oscar White. ' Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Bob Johnston of Ripley on the birth of their baby girl, a sister for Julie. Joynt. A luncheonwas then served and selections from the pipers closed the afternoon session. The MacMillan Clan and neighbours and friends, numbering about two hundred, then assembled at St. Mary's Church, Lucknow, where a memorial mass was celebrated by Father Michael Dalton; in the absence of the pastor Rev. Edward Dentinger. Altar boys were Michael Mc- Nulty, David Griffin; ushers, Wal- ter Smith, Bud Wocks, Ralph Evanich, Donald Blem; organist, Mary Ann Frayne; soloist, Eugene Frayne; guest soloist, Ray Dalton, accompanied by Sister Maureen; lay reader „Clifford MacMillan; gift bearers, Veronica MacDermott , Joseph L. MacMil- lan . A 'beautiful set of vestments was presented to the church from the MacMillan Clan. The master of ceremonies pro- posed a toast to the MacMillan; Clan and the Grand March led by the Grand Marshal Joseph L. Mac- Millan, who with his sister, Marg- aret (Mrs. Griffin) welcomed everyone in the hall. - .1. Dancing: followed to the music of Elliott Carruthers Orchestra. Drawing for the MacMillan plaque and special awards com- pleted a gala evening. The MacMillan Plaque was won by. Hugh MacMillan, who was un= able to attend, and it was accept- ed by his daughter Dolores of Det- roit. The award to the newlyweds was won by Joe Griffin, of Royal • Oak, Michigan. The guest, who travelled farthest, was Maureen • McNulty of San Francisco. The award to the oldest member, of the clan present , went to Joseph L. MacMillan, Lucknow and greet- ings to the oldest member of -the Clan, Mrs, Mayme (MacMillan) Menefee of Oklohomo, who was urable•to attend. The new com- mittee for next family reunion is Paddy Ann Blem .
