ACCIDENT ON HIGHWAY 21 AT SHEPPARDTON

A two car, collision on Highway
21 on Saturday,_ evening shortly
after H p.m. took the life of four
area teen=agers. The entire com-
munity was touched by this tragic
accidentwhich also left two oth-
ers seriously injured.

The four dead young people
were all riding in one car and
proceeding north on 'Highway -21.
The collision occurred at
Sheppardton. There is an S curve
in the Highway at this point.
Fourth Annual Lucknow Sumrner Cruft
festival Attracts Large Crowd From
Wide Area To Two Day Event
A large crowd attended the two-
day fourth annual Lucknow Sum-
mer Craft Festival held in the
Lucknow Arena sponsored by the
Lucknow Agricultural. Society.
The first thousand 'ladies received
a free gift and these gifts were
all distributed by the early even-
ing of the first day.
The. many crafters were quite
happy with the spacious surround-
ings and reported .sales superior to
any other previous year. •
, Spectators and buyers came
from such places as Vancouver ,
Edmonton, Germany, New Jersey ,
Detroit, Nashville , Washington,
Florida, England , Scotland,
Ottawa , Calgary , New York,
Ohio, -Pennsylvania , .Thdnder Bay,
Toronto, London ,'Oshawa , Wind-
sor, Kingston and many other
places too numerous to mention.
§ome crafters were almost sold
out the first day and returned home
to replenish their stock for the fin-
al day.
Many demonstrations were con-
ducted during the .two-day event.
Miss Gail MacPherson, the 1974-
75 Miss Lucknow Fair Beauty
Queen, was present to make the
37 draws for free gifts.
. The major draw for the quilt,
on which tickets were sold was
won by Mrs.' Pearl Duke, R. 1
Fordwich.
• Some of the crafters donated
prizes towards the 36 free draws.

Dead are Jamie Liznore , 17;
driver of the car, son of Mr. and.
Mrs. Edward Lizmore of the Bervie
area. Jamie was a Kincardine
District High School student 'and
was working at Kincardine I.G.A.
this summer. He attended Luck -
now Public School in his senior
elementaryschool years.
Donalda Hamilton, 16, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hamilton
who reside on Highway 86 , about
one mile east of Atnberiey. She
attended Kincardine District High
School this past year having earl-
ier attended Wingham School.
Heather Stevenson, 15, who
lived on Highway 86 , 1 1/2 miles
east. of Lucknow. She is the daugh-
ter of Mrs. Jessie Stevenson and
Warren Stevenson and was a stud-
ent at F. E. Madill Secondary
School in Wingham.
Sheryl MacLennan, 16, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Bayne Mac-
Lennan.
The MacLehnans live on
Highway 21, about 1 1/2. miles
south of Amberley. , Sheryl attend-
ed the F. E. Madill Secondary
School:
A fifth passenger in the Lizmore
car was Kevin Whittington, 15,
of R. R. 2 'Kincardine. He was
removed to University Hospital,
London in serious condition.
The lone occupant of the south-
bound car was Mrs. Fred (Mary)
Crawford of Port Albert. She was
MacMillan Clan Meet At Lucknow,
Descendants Of Scottish Pioneers
Who Made Canada Their Home
When the Scots get together
they really celebrate. As the ,
MacMillan Clan met for luncheon
at the Lucknow Legion Hall on
Saturday, July 29th their Tartan of
Red , Green and Yellow wasdis-
played everywhere. The hall was
very appropriately decorated for
the occasion with Scottish flags ,
American and Canadian flags.
The receptionists also wore ,
tartan armlets while Bud Griffin of
the Clan committee wore a tartan
vest and hat with tartan band.
Piper Wilfred McQuillan of
Lucknow and pipers George and
David MacDonald of Ripley wel-
comed the guests with Scottish
selections.
The program opened at 2 p.m:
with John L. MacMillan of Mont-
real as master of ceremonies and
he gave the welcome address.
He then announced the appoint-
ment of the Grand Marshall, and
as the pipers entertained, the Mac-
Millan Sash was presented to Jos-
eph L. MacMillan.
A letter of congratulations to
the Clan and a welcome address
was read from Reeve George

A. private double funeral was
held in Lucknow on Tuesday at.
2 p.m. at the MacKenzie .Memor-
ial'Chapel for Heather Stevenson
and Donalda Hamilton. The ser-
vice was conducted by Richard
Sand, student minister at Ripley
and Ashfield Presbyterian Church

24th from the Wingham and Dist-
rict Hospital' Nursing Assistants
School of Nursing. Attending the
graduation exercises were her
mother and father; grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Hackett Jr.
of Lucknow and Mrs. Wilma J.
Cumming of Kitchener.
Friends and relatives gathered
for .a surprise smorgasbord supper
at the home of her ,parents that
evening.
Wilma has accepted a position
with the Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don, commencing work on June
