An initial check of the Ripley
Grain Elevator was made last
Saturday by the owner operator
Jack Treleaven of Lucknow, Ken-
ny MacDonald and Johnny Smith
of Ripley to ready it for the com-
ing fall wheat haniest.

Last Wednesday afternoon Mr.
and Mrs. Alex Cotton and sons
Brian and Doug of Toronto •arrived
in Ripley to. open up his mother's
house , Mrs. Mae Cotton, at the
end of Malcolm Street. They
will be here for their vacation
renewing'acquaintances with Rip-
ley friends.

Miss Dianne MacKay, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Mac-
Kay is presently in Prince Edward
Island. She will be there for
another week, Dianne was one
of the Ontario Junior Farmers
chosen for this exchange trip. She
flew down to P.E.I. and will re-
turn to Ontario the same way.

Bill recently returned from a trip.,
to Ottawa and then to Sudbury
area in Northern Ontario, He al-

The marriage of Joyce Ann
Elliott, daughter of Mi. and Mrs.'
Earl N. Elliott of R. R. 3 Ripley,
and John Lester Farrell, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Lester Farrell of
R. R. 2 Ripley was solemnized in
Knox Presbyterian church, Ripley,
on Saturday, May 18 at four
o'clock. Rev. Carnachan of Rip-
ley officiated at the double ring
ceremony.
The, church pews were decorat-
ed with white bows.
Given in marriage by her father ,
the bride wore a white floor -
length dress, Victorian Style, with
built-in.train and belled cuffs.
Her waist-Jength veil was held- by
a Juliet styled cap. She carried a
nosegay of white daisies, pink
carnations and blue corn flowers.
Miss Bonnie Boyle of Ripley
was maid of honour. She wore a
princess styled, sleeveless dress of
yellow flowered print. Her flow-
ers were similar to the bride's,
with the exception of yellow dais-
ies instead of white. : •
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Brenda
Sterling of London, sister of the
groom and Miss Barbara Stanley
of Kinloss, cousin of the bride.
Their dresses and flowers were the
same as the maid of honour's.
Leonard Farrell of Ripley, broth-
er of the groom , was groomsman.
Ushers were Stephen Elliott of
Owen Sound , brother of the bride
and James Farrell of Ripley, broth
er of the groom.
Mis. Everett Elliott of Ferndale ,
Michigan was organist: Mrs. Bill
Geddes of R. R. 4 Kincardine as
soloist sang "There is Love" and
Honour Parents On
25th Anniversary
Betty and Bill McGill of Det-
roit , Michigan and summer resid-
ents at Amberley Beach celebrat-
ed their 25th wedding anniversary
on Saturday, July 27th, at the
Sutton Par Inn, Kincardine.
All ele n of the McGill child-
ren assembi&F6arlier at their
cottage at Amberley Beach. Al-
though the dinner was a big sur-
prise, the thrill of the evening 44a
was yet to come. After the din-
ner , the children presented their
parents 'with a cheque enabling
them to travel to the ,Barbados.
The final surprise of the even-
ing was, an anniversary mass pre-
pared by the children, and cele-
brated at the cottage. This anni-
versary is one that 'the McGills
will never forget.
"Teach me to pray".
A reception followed in the
Ripley District High School which
had been decorated with a dropp-
ed:ceiling in pink , blue and silv-
er.
The bride's mother received the
guests wearing a floor -length
aqua blue gown with empire waist-
line ,' sheer long sleeves and heavy
lace applique edging on collar.
Her corsage was pink rOses.
The groom's mother assisted
wearing a floor-iength gown.of
pink floral sheer with long puffy
sleeves, V-neck and white orchid
corsage.
Following a wedding trip to
Northern Ontario, the couple are
residing in Ripley.
