MilOmar'Carrick School was
the location of a hot discussion on
June 17th between the local
candidates for the Federal elec-
tion and area residents, mainly
farmers.
The candidates each presented
a timed 10 minute platform
speech and then questions were
fired at them by members of the -
audience.
They were challenged as to

when farmers were going to get
a fair and. stable return for their
efforts, when was the farm credit
programme going to meet needs
of both young and established
farmers and how did each party
plan to establish a skilled farm
labour force ready to relieve the
average farm owner of the
heaq burden of a 7 day week.
Also housing costs were criticized.
E ach candidate had his own
brand of solutions to the "beefs".
It can only be concluded that by
getting to view these men per-
sonally, and hear their stories,
can one finally decide which is
the right man to Vote for.

Edmonton, June 14.
Dear Donald
Received two invitations to the
old boys re-unipn but regret to say
I am surely sorry but I can't make
it due to our holiday allotment.
What I can't understand is why
you would want a renegade out of '
the oil capital to join you as.I be -
live oil is a dirty word down east.
And being from Tory country,
would make it that much more ob-
noxious and the grape vine tells
me that the grits have loaded up
their guns and are ready to start
shooting: two -gunmen like Mac.
Lane, Bill Porteous arid Wif And-
erson. But I'm not scared of them
when I have Wes Joynt , Bert Alton
and Harvey on my Side. . And if I
need more help I'll go to Clinton
and get Watt and Mel for body
guards.
• I'malto taking a post grad
course in cribbage as Lneed
is when I tangle with Al Irwin,
Howard Barger and Co.
• I had it all planned to go down
and pick up a new car for Bernice
and bring our Susan back but the
well laid'plans of mice and men?
Now Donald I believe my paper
is due so enclosed, along with the
tickets you sent, is I hope my
small bit and I am very _
disappointed in not joining all
