Awards Presented At
Sunday School Anniversary
Trinity United. Church Sunday
School, Ashfield, held their 5th
anniversary in the. form of a
Church service June 23rd with all
classes participating.
During the processional hymn,
All Things Bright and Beautiful,
the. Primary Junior and Junior
Classes entered the church filling
both choir lofts. The call to
worship was given by°the Junior
Intermediate class followed by the
Prayer of Approach given by the
same group'. The Lord's Prayer
was repeated in unison. The,
Kindergarten class sang "For Bun-
nies and: Squirrels" and "Jesus
Loves the little children"
The responsive reading, Psalm
121 from Good News for Modern
Man, was led by Elizabeth Wilk-
ins and Kevin Alton with the
Primary Juniors and, congregation
taking part. The Primary Juniors
had a unison reading :on the
Twelve Disciples followed by the
Primary Class singing "Thank you
O Lord". and,."Children of the.
Heavenly Father" closing with
prayer. The Junior class .present-
ed a playlet entitled "The Squan-
derer".

All joined in singing the hymn
"Lord of the Dance". The prayer
was ,given by Joan Hackett. The°
offering was taken . up by Larry
Wilkins and Michael Hackett. It
is to be used to care for our adopt-
ed child. The offertory prayer
was given by Gordon Alton, fol-
lowed by the entire Junior Sunday
School singing "Thank You".
The Intermediate Class devo -
tions were taken by Karen Reur-
ink, Jamie Hackett, Jack Wilkins
and Paul,Zinn closed with prayer.
The scripture Romans 12: 1-6 was
read by Susan Irvin.
The: message was given by the
Senior Highclasswith ail partic-
,ipating. They presented. three
short messages entitled "Pictures,
Good Samaritan, and Kiss, .Make-
up" with Mrs. Douglas Cameron
narrating. This part was closed
with all. singing hymn "Thank
you, 0 Lord".
The presentation of certificat-
es for Primary Catechisms was •
made by Wilma Hackett to the
following Sharon Alton, Janice
Hackett., Jeffrey Hunter , Lori
Hackett and . Bill Scott.
The Intermediate Senior Cate-
chism awards were made by Frank
Alton, Mrs. Blake Alton and Mrs.
Waren, Zinn. For the first half 'a.
copy 'of the Revised Standard
Version of the Bible was presented
to Karen Reurink, Gordon Alton
and Greg Hackett. For the second
half 'a plaque of the Praying Hands
and Prayer of Serenity was pres-
ented to Jamie Hackett and Paul
Zinn.

award of a seal and wreath with
the year indicated In brackets pres-

Chalmer's Women's Mission-
ary Society held their Junemeet-
ing on Wednesday afternoon at
2.30 in the church Sunday school
room with an attendance of 18.
The president Mrs. Bill Rintoul
gave the call to worship followed
by prayer. All sang Breath on me
Breath of God.
Mrs. Rintoul gave a warm wel-
come to all and read Matt. 13: 1-
13 and gave the meditation. All
must havecompassion and sym-
pathy or pay a heavy price for not
having faith of the church. Chris-
tian heritage must be passed on •
to future generations. ,Be sure the
roots are deep so christianity can
be cultivated and not like chaff
which can be blown.away. She
closed with prayer.
Mrs. Wesley Tiffin gave a
reading One Family, Mrs. Don
Ross gave a piano solo. •
A thank you note for flowers

Mrs. Evans introduced the guest
speaker Mrs. Grace Richardson, a
teacher at a school in Zambia ,
Africa,The school is for child-
ren of missionaries and they come
from all over the world to this
Boarding School. There are also
some negro pupils. Pupils from
Grade 1 to,9 are taught. After
pondence course or go -home to
their homeland and live with rela-
tives. The school accommodates

The class rooms are well equipped
with library and'all lessons include
physical training, religious train-
ing,
rain-ing, movies. Sunday morning
pupils Grade 4 to 9 all write a
letter to their parents. Special
church services are held once a
month. Birthdays are
observed with birthday cakes.
They may have pets if they cause
no trouble.
Tuesday is market day where
all kinds of fruit and pineapples
are sold. They have bicycles and
the ladies get their
hair done the same as ladies in
Ontario.
Mrs. Richardson showed slides
as she gave her interesting com-
mentary. Mrs. E vans thanked
Mrs. Richardson and presented
her with a gift.: '

the World, was sung with pianist
