At Lucknow Central .Public School THE LUCKNOW SENTINEL, LUCKNOW, ONTARIO PROFICIENCY WINNERS at the Lucknow Central Public School Grade 8 graduation last Thursday were: Colin Cameron, a grade 6 student', the John Nicolson mem- orial scholarship for musical abil- ity; his sister Barbara. Cameron, girl's general proficiency in grade 8; Grant Gilchrist, boy's general proficiencyin grade 8 and class valedictorian; Patrick Murray, grade 8 student, the band profic- iency award. Colin and Barbara are son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Cameron of Lucknow; Grant is a" son of Mr. and Mrs: Bob Gilchrist .of Kinloss and Pat is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ab 'Murray of Luck - now . uck-now. The Lochalsh school section was in the North Ashfield 'Public School Area and the red brick school was purchased by the Department of Highways and the building demolished and the site cleared, There were no bidders for the sturdy building and the Department had to pay a wrecker about $650 to have it Torn down. Kinloss Township native, Rev. Hugh MacMillan, was named,Mod- erator of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, the highest,honour in the church. For 38 years, except when they had to withdraw from. the Far East due to war develop'-. ments, they served on the mission- ary field in Formosa until retiring in 1963.
