It was a long drive ten miles, as we did not live too far from Kin - tail, on the 9th concession. Now 1 live in Goderich and it is a nice town. Dear Don Received your invitation to be present at the Lucknow Reunion at the end of.this month. It hard- ly seems possible that I really left Lucknow fifty-eight years ago in May 1916 and I was in uniform at London training for overseas in World War I. Enlisted May 8, 1916. • Here in Brantford we are just PAGE TWENTY-ONE in the midst of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the invention of the Telephone by Alexander Graham Bell. The first long distance call was on about nine miles of wire strung along the fences from Brantford to Paris, Ontario, in the year 1874. However , at present , I want to thank you and your committee for the invitation but it is pretty near impossible to know right now whether I can be with you all or not. It would certainly be nice to meet all old friends again to rem- inisce, etc. Yourprogram for the four days is so full of events that I would wonder when one is supposed to sleep.
