Sunday June 9th was the first week that the celebration could be held for 56 aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and grandmother Mrs. Gordon Elliott of Wingham and grandfath- er Bill Forster of•West Wawanosh. The party was held at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Walter. Elliott and family. The afternoon was spent with Ruth opening her gifts, among which were cream and sugars, vases and flowers, fancy dishes, 'breakfast caddy, plates, mush- room cannister set, charm brace- let, casserole, salad bowl, salt and peppers and others, ,Adorn- ing the table for the, barbecue lunch was a decorated cake in the form of a book. The commun- ity extends their congratulations to Ruth. - Chalmers W. M.S. will hold their meeting on Wednesday, June 19th at 2.30 in the Sunday School room. The leaders are Mrs. Bill Rintoul, Mrs. Bill Evans; helpers Miss Mary Laidlaw and Mrs. Wal- lace Conn; roll call, catechism - question and answer. Mrs. James Richardson will show slides and give a commentary of her work. Courtesy remarks Mrs. Elmer King Bill Rintoul on Monday to Wed- nesday accompanied the Bruce County Beef Producers by bus to Sarnia, where they took a plane to Omaha Nebraska, where they visited several feed lots in that area. W.I. ENJOY BUS TOUR On Monday Whitechurch W.I. sponsored a bus from Lucknow for a tour. They visited Erland Lee Homestead, a W.I. project, and the ladies were enthused with the homestead and its surroundings. Here they had their picnic lunch which all brought with them Next they vlisitd Niagara Falb and latera shopping plaza , where all • had supper. They arrived home around 10 o'clock having enjoyed a very interesting tour. On the tour from this section were Mrs. Harvey Houston, Mrs. Clarence Ritchie, Mrs. Fred Tiffin, Mrs. Bill Rintoul, Mrs. Gordon Rintoul, Mrs. 'Garnet Farrier, Mrs. Bill Evans, Mrs. Lester Falconer, Mrs. George Kennedy, Mrs. Dawson Craig, Mrs. Gordon McBurney, Mrs. Dan Tiffin, Mrs. Elmer Slieghtholm, Mrs. Walter Elliott, Mrs. Archie Purdon, Mrs. John Currie , Mrs. Don Ross. Others for the tour were picked up in Wingharn. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gutoskie and Michelle of Kitchener spent, the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rintoul. On Thursday last Alex Inglis under went surgery at Westminst- er Hospital, London. On Sunday his sister Betty Flannigan visited him and found him progressing as well as could be,expected. The community wishes Alex a most speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Inglis of "\ Victoria, B.C. , have been recent visitors with his mother MTs. Tom Inglis and family. This summer Jack is employed at Kingsville along with sons Tom and Stephen. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Moore, Linda , Richard and Cindy visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Moore of Wroxeter. They also attended a hard ball game • between Wingham Tykes and Listowel Tykes. Richard Moore , Joey Tiffin and Danny Martin play on the Wingham The Lucknow Women's Institute held their June meeting on June lith and met at twelve -thirty for a pot luck dinner , after which the president, Mrs. Armstrong Wil- son, opened the meeting with the opening ode and the Mary Stewart Collect. The correspondence was read and the business discussed. Cards were signed to send to the sick members. A donation was sent tO the museum at Southampton and the ladies made arrangements to take care of the registration for the reunion. The Institute is planning a Bus Trip to the Erland Lee Home and other places of int- erest and anyone wanting to go can contact Mrs. Grace Camp- bell. Mrs. Sam Gibson had charge of the program and Mrs. Howard Barger had a splendid paper on the motto "He who works with nature works with God" and the roll call was answered by a "cur- rent event pertaining to agricul- ture"; Mrs. Alex MacNay gave the morning report of the District Annual meeting, the theme of the meeting being "Happiness". Mrs. Sam Gibson gave the afternoon re- port and all those who had attend- ed reported a very helpful and happy meeting,. Mrs. Sam Gibson gave a talk or Agriculture, telling about the different kinds of fertilizers and some of the insecticides to use in growing different plants and flowers. She also explained the origin of the McIntosh apple. , Mrs. Ross.Shiells conducted a spelling match, which was enjoy- ed and the meeting closed by singing the Queen. WEDNESDAY, JUNi Langside Cemetery Officers Elected • WHITECHURCH NEWS The Langside Cemetery meeting was held Thursday evening, June 13th in Whitechurch Hall with an attendance of 12. • The president Bill Evans presid- ed and gave -a welcome to all. The minutes were read by secret- ary Mrs. Victor Emerson. The correspondence letters from the Department were read by Mrs. Emerson and discussed. The fin- ancial statement showing a bal- ance of $390.63 was given by Mrs. Fred Tiffin.
