was an explosion it would go up
through the roof instead of out
through the walls. After our tour
of Fort George we went to Brock's
Monument to eat our lunch. Fol-
lowing lunch we went to the cable
car where several of the braver
students crossed on the•cable car
while the others watched . The
cable car went over top of the
whirlpools. In the afternoon
we toured Mada'rne Tussad's Wax
Museum. ;Then we were given
free time todo as we pleased. It
was a very enjoyable trip. We
were thankful to Mrs. Fisher, and
the mothers, Mrs.. Loree, Mrs.
Hamilton and Mrs. MacIntyre whc
travelled with us..

Mr. and Mrs. John Gaunt of
Whitechurch were honoured by,,
their family Saturday evening,
June 8th, when a dance was held
in the Whitechurch Hall in honour
of their 40th wedding anniversary.
Friends and relatives attended.
Mr.. and Mrs. Gaunt were mar-
ried 'on June 18, 1934. Mrs.
Gaunt is the former Agnes Coul-
tes. They have a family of
one daughter and three sons, Mrs.
Donald Ross (Jean) of Kinloss,
Jim of Centralia, Harley of Wing -
ham and George of Exeter, and
eight grandchildren.
On Saturday afternoon the fam-
ily presented their parents with a
colour television set.

Mrs. Jim Haldenby returned
home from a most enjoyable trip
by air, to Scotland. She accom-
panied her mother Mrs. A. Camp-
bell of Kincardine. They spent
some time visiting with relatives
,and sight seeing.
Mr. and Mrs.„ Allan Nicholson
of Georgetown spent the week end
with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nicholson
and Lois.

The Holyrood Women's Institute
met on Thursday evening at the
home of Mrs. Raynard Ackert be-
ginning with a delicious pot luck
supper)
The 1st vice president Mrs.
William McPherson was in charge
and the meeting opened with the
Ode and the Mary Stewart Collect.
Mrs. Lorne Eadie read the treas-
urer; s report and the correspond-
ence.
The next 4-11 course will be
"the club girl entertains" and the
training school will be at Ripley
August 17 and 19. Committee -
Edna Boyle, Mrs. Frank Nlaulden,
Mrs. Alex Percy.
Mrs. Morgan Johnston reported
on the Bruce South Annual
meeting which was held at
Ripley. • Each member is asked
to contribute 5 recipes for a
cook book. The roll call was
"My Fabourite Rose" and how to
grow it.
Mrs. Morgan Johnston was in
charge of the program. The
topic - "What's my beef' was
an open discussion and -was very
interesting with all members and
visitors taking part.
Five ladies from the Bervie
Institute presented a humorous
skit "The meeting comes to order'
which everyone enjoyed.
Readings were given by Mrs. Ern-
est Acker Jr. and' Mary Eadie.
Mrs. Raynard Ackert gave the
motto "What does your face re-
veal?" and also conducted a con-
test on "Sayings". Mrs. Morgan
Johnston thanked everyone and
all took part in an evaluation
contest. 0 Canada closed the
meeting..

Anniversary services were held
at Ashfield Presbyterian Church
on Sunday with Rev. Weir of Kin-
cardine the guest Speaker.
Ewan MacLean held a s,pccess-
ful auction sale, as did Jack Mac-
Lennan recently.
Torn Barger is working at South-
ampton for the summer.
Miss Margo Matthewman return-
ed to Guelph having spent a few
holidays with her .parents Mr, and
Mrs. Art Matthewman..
Mr. and Mrs: Ted Peacock of
Detroit visited Mr. and 'Mrs. Oliv-
er McCharles.
The Morton children of Sarnia
visited, with their grandmother ,
. Mrs : Emile MacLennan, while
their •mother Mrs . ' Margaret Mort-
on attended a bowling competi-
tion in Syracuse, N. Y.
Miss Margaret MacLeod spent a
few days visiting in Toronto.
Several relatives of Miss Pat
McCharles were guests on Satur-
day of Mrs. Howard Robb. at a
bridal shower. in Pat's honour.

TRACK AND FIELD DAY
Last Friday was Track and Field
Day. There were races, high
jump,. triple jump and long jump
events. There will be Red Ribbon
for 1st place, a [clue Ribbon for
2nd place and White Ribbon for
3rd place..
GRADE 4-5
Weare sorry to report that Brian
Gamble is in University f[ospital,
London where he is undergoing
skin grafting. lie injured his el-
bow in a farm accident.
On Friday, May 31, 1974 we had
a field trip to .Wasaga Beach and
Collingwood. We visited the zoo
at Wasaga where we saw many an-
imals including tigers, wolves,
lions, monkeys, kangaroos, chest•
ahs, mountain goats, elephants,
buffaloes, huge snakes, turtles,
and a hippopotamus which had
still not been let out of its winter
quarters. On the way home we
went through Blue Mountairt Pot-,
tery at Collingwood.
GRADE S-6
On Friday, May 31 we went to
Smoky Hollow for a 2 mile orient-
eering course. The groups left at
5 minute intervals. Heather Mac-
Donald, David Ingard and Debbie
Gamble came in first doing the 2
mile course in 53. minutes. When
it was time for the bus to take us
back to school there were 3 -
people missing. They were Susie
Rock, Jami Gratton and Lorrie
Peterbaugh. They returned to the
finish about 4.15.
On Tuesday, May 28, Ronald
Harris dislocated his finger while
playing baseball.
