Farrier and guest pianists, John
Gibb and Mrs. Dan Tiffin. ,
The morning service was held at
11 a,m.. After opening services ,
and the hymn Praise My Soul the
King of Heaven, a
responsive Psalm was read. The
"choir anthem was Have Yeheard
of Him. The scripture was read
from Ezekiel 37 and I Peter 2,
followed by the pastoral prayer.
The men's trio Harvey McDow-
ell, Lloyd Walden and Garnet
Farrier sang. "In the cool of the
Day".
The sermon was "The Church
Alive". A saxaphone duet, Gods .
Little Candles, was played by
Harvey McDowell and Garnet
Farrier. ,The hymn, Rise up 0
men of God, was followed by the.
benediction.
The evening service was held at.
8 p.m. opening .with the hymn
The Day. Thou Gayest Lord is
ended. Scripture was read from
Hebrews 11 and Luke 5. The
men's quartette .Harvey McDow-
ell, Lloyd Walden, Larry King,
Garnet Farrier sang, Beautiful
Threads of Gold. The choir an-
them was In Shadow in Sunshine.
The message was Faith Alive.
The men's quartette sang
Close to the Cross. The closing.
hymn 'Love Divine, All Love
Excelling was sung followed by
the benediction.

Lucknow United Church Women
Unit 1" held- their regular meeting .
on Tuesday afternoon, June•4th at
the horne•of Mrs. Walter Dexter.
N1rs. Sam Gibson opened the, .
meeting with a poem "Smiles".
The hymn "What a friend we have
in Jesus" was sung 'followed by
prayer: The roll call was answer-
ed by 20 members telling -what
they planned for summer vaca-
tion. The payment ,of fees was .
stressed, 'Th,e group was reminded
of the Carillon Ringers who were
coming to Lucknow to present a.
concert in the church on June 13
sponsored by the'Youth Group. It
,was hoped there would be a .good
turnout for this event.
Mrs. Walter Dexter gave the
report on community friendship
and. Mrs. Al Irwin gave.a reading
on stewardship. Mrs. Nelson
Raynard, for supplies and welfare,
reminded the group about the sup-
plies for the, baler -Mrs.• Peter
Cook gave the treasurer's report
and Mrs. W. G. Hunter'reported
for flowers for the church. ' Mrs.
Clarence Bell for social functions
made arrangements forthe lunch
after the senior citizens serviee
on. Sunday, June 16 , also a ,wed-
ding on June 21st , and the reunion
on July 1st.
" Mrs. Walter Dexter was conven-
er for the program and opened •
with 2 verses of "Breath on me
breath of 'God". Mrs:, Robt.
Helm took the scripture from the
fourth chapter of Philippians and
also gave the ,meditation. Mrs, ,
Marshall Gibson gave a reading •
on the church mission in Africa.
Mrs. Walter Dexter gave a reading
on Friendship, on being a good "
friend and making friends, and
conducted .a Bible contest. Mrs.
Jack Gardner gave a reading "The
United Church Gardener" after
which we sang the last 2 verses
of hymn 148 and Mrs. Robt.
1-lelni closed with prayer.
A hobby sale followed of donat-
ed plants and articles in charge
of Mrs. Walter Dexter which went
very well. The meeting closed
with a lunch served by hostess and
committee..
Unit 2 Hears
Tcilk On Hawaii
The June meeting of Unit 2 of
Lucknow United Church Women
was held at the home of v1rs. Ray-
nard Ackert. Mrs: Vernon Hunter
opened the meeting with a hymn
and the reading of a poem. The
roll call "Something we have /
learned from "Nilsson Impossible -
unless" was answered by 19 mem-.
bers. Friendship report was given
by Mrs. G. NlacDonald. Madel-
ine Ritchie read a poem on Stew-
ardship. Social Functions report
was given by Mrs. Gordon Kirk-
land. Mrs. Hunter closed the
business meeting with prayer. ,
N1rs. Zetta Henderson opened
the progr m with a poem. After
the singitfg of a hymn Mrs•. Breck-
les read the scripture and
Lena Robinson gavL the prayer.
Mrs. Ena Henderson gave a very
interesting talk on her trip to
Hawaii. The meeting was closed
with the mizpah .benediction.
Anauction sale followed with
Mrs. Harvey ''ouston as auction-
eer. Lunc-h was served by the,
committee in charge , assisted by
the hostess, Mrs: Ackert.

Lucknow Unit 5
The June meeting of Unit 5 of
the Lucknow United Church Worn -
en was held at the home of.Mrs,
Alex Andrew with sixteen mem-
bers present. The president Mrs.
Charlie Anderson opened the
meeting with Hymn 252.
Mrs. Andrew reported on Supply
and Welfare. The treasurer's re-
port wal given by Mrs. Robert
Campbell. A special collection
was requested for the Community
Friendship Fund, Mrs. Robert
Nicholls reported on the gradua-
tion of six C. G. I. T . girls. Three
bibles were presented by.the U.C.
W. of our church. Mrs. Russell
Button reported on'Social Func-
tions.
Mrs. Mildred Cameron present-
ed Mrs. Nicholls with a gift on
behalf of the unit.
The devotional part of the
meeting was convened by Mrs,
Russell Button. Mrs. Ross Hender-

Ives. Glen Walden welcomed
Unit 3,of Lucknow United Church
Women at her home on June 4.
The theme of the meeting was
Friendship and Mrs. Walden read
a poem, "The Door to Friendship" -
Mrs . E. W. Rice accompanied for
the singing of "0 Worship the
King" after which the Lord's pray-
er was repeated.
. The roll call was answered by a
verse containing the :word "Friend"
Twenty two members and five
visitor's were .present. ' Mrs. Jim
Ritchie -gave a report of'visits
made and cards sent. Those pres-
ent signed cards to be sent to two
who were ill. Mrs. C. McDon-
ald gave a report on social func-
tions and made arrangements for
a number'of events in the• near
future: The offering was dedicat-
ed by Mrs. Walden. ';
'Mrs. Grace; Campbell had
charge of the programand read a
porn "Friendship". "What a
Friend We Have in Jesus" was
sung and Mrs. Ron Alton led in
prayer. Mrs.. Wm. Ross, accom-
panied by Mrs.. George Stuart sang
"Jesus is All the World to Me".
Mrs. Stuart gave a meditation,
on Friendship and read the scrip-
ture from the book of Ruth, on, the
story of Ruth and Naomi. Mrs..
Campbell recited a`poem from.
school day, "June".
Mrs. Rice sang "There's a Rain-
bow Shitting" , ,accompanied by
Mrs. Campbell..' A reading "Salt
of the Earth" was given by Mrs.
Howald. '
Mrs. Ron Alton introduced the
speaker,. Mrs. Bert Alton, who
gave a most interesting account
of the visit she and Mr. Alton
made recently to Australia. She.
had many souvenirs to show and
with her comments on the year-
round abundance of fresh fruit,
and warm temperatures, made all
feel a visit to the continent, •
"down -under". could be very en- .
joyable. She was thanked by Mrs.
Howald. '
Mrs. Campbell expressed thanks.
to Mrs,, Walden for her home and.
to all who helped with the pro-
gram. "Break Thou the Bread of
Life" was sung and the Mizpah
benediction repeated.
During the serving of •tea , Miss
June Alton accompanied her
sisters Nancy, Ruth and Grace as
they sang "Higher Hands" and
"Kass It On".
A very successful Hobby Sale
was held, with Mrs. Bert Alton as
auctioneer.

contest was held which made .us
aware of the many good things
in life we enjoy compared to
some of the poorer countries.
The meeting closed with repeat-
ing of the Benediction. Lunch was

charge.
