Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hackett of
Lucknow celebrated their 45th
wedding anniversary on Saturday,
June 1st. ,
A family supper was held at the
Anglican Parish •Hall and a social
evening followed at the Hackett
home. •
Mr. and Mrs. Hackett were
presented by their family with a
gift of lawn furniture.
Mrs. Hackett is the former Til-
lie Hackett , daughter of the late.
Mr. and Mrs. David Hackett of
Lucknow. Torn is the son of Alex
(Sandy) Hackett of Lucknow and
the late Mrs. Hackett.
They have a family of five
daughters. and three sans, Mrs.
Earl (Donalda) Jamieson, R. R. 2
Lucknow , Mrs. Clare (Freda)
Spicer of London, Mrs. Laverne
(Lois), Cunningham of R. R. 6
Goderich, Mrs. Ken (Joyce) El -
phick of Arnberley, , Mrs. Ken
(Kathleen) Ackworth of London,
Donald , Allan and Barry , all of the
10th concession of Ashfield , and
thirty grandchildren.
mill there and operated it as a
partnership until Mr. Kennedy's
death in 1953. At that time John
purchased the half interest from
the Kennedy estate and has con-
tinued to operate the mill since
that time.
As well as custom work done
for customers over a wide area,
John bought and sold lumber and
took a• good 'deal of lumber out of
the hush on the farm where the
mill is located. He was assisted
in the mill work for 17 years by
Jack Aitchison, now a resident of
Huronview at Clinton.
About 5 or 6 years ago he- sold
the property to Roy Pennington of
Culross and retained the right to
continue operation of the mill at
that location.
About a month ago Mr. Gaunt
sold the mill to Philip Gernein-
hardt of Hayfield who will move
the mill to the Hayfield location,
The mill was operated during
the summer months by Mr. Gaunt
so for the first time in 25 years,
the saw is quiet at the Gaunt mill
and John is attempting to adapt
to the new challenge of retire-
ment..
The death of William Graydon
Ritchie of Lucknow Occurred on
Monday, June 3rd , in Wingham
and •District Hospital.
He was born in Ashfield Town-
ship on October 8, 1916 a son of
Robert Ritchie and Mary Anne
Alice Gardner.
' On November 6, 1953 he mar-
ried Beth MacDonald of Vancouv-
er , British Columbia.
Graydon was a' farmer and they
farmed in Ashfield Township un-
til December 1966, when they
moved to Lucknow where they had
built a home.
He is survived by his wife and
one daughter Janet of London; one
sister Mrs. Armstrong (Tillie)
Wilson of Lucknow and two broth-
ers Andrew of Lucknow and John
G. of Brussels.
The funeral service was held at
MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow , on Thursday, June 6th."
Rev. J. E. Hummel was minister.
Pallbearers were Tom Dickson,
Tom Andrew , Calvin Ritchie,
Kenneth Ritchie, Bruce MacLean,
Bill Hunter.
Flower bearers were Robert
Wall, Girvin Reed , Peter Mac-
Donald.
Interment was in Greenhill
Cemetery.
