Lucknow Agricultural Society,
and all concerned people:
The executive of Lucknow Ctaft
Festival would like to take this
oppOrtunity of explaining: and Cor-
recting some of the misconcep-
tions that have.arisen as a result
of a dispute with the Lucknow g-.
ricultural 'Society .
• We don't believe any purpose
purpose would be served by review-
ing the various matters that caus-
ed this dispute to arise. Unfortun-
ately, the dispute was never re-
solved and we -registered our.own
craft festival under the name
'Lucknow Craft. FestiVar .
As we understand it, the Agri-
cultural Society is going to oper-
ate its own craft festival in the
Village of Lucknow so we have
decided to operate a craft festiv-
al in the Village of Ripley on
"August 2nd and 3rd.
There is no reason why, two
craft festivals can not operate
successfully in this area ,and as
paid.up members of the Lucknow
Agricultural Society, we wish •
them well.

Summer Craft Festival is.concern-
ed ; it was never Our intention not
to turn these proceeds over to the
AgricultUral Society, but we did
feel that since we had started the
craft festival and since we had
contributed to it, that we should
have 'some say as to where the
money was spent, and it was our
feeling it should be contributed to
the Lions Swimming PoOl. This
was'.refused ly the Agricultural
Society.
• We would be remiss if we did
not say "thanks" to all those per-
sons who assisted us over the years
in making the Lucknow Summer
Craft Festival one of the largest
and best in Ontario.
Enclosed please find cheque in
the sum of $2,947.72 payable to

being the proceeds of the bank
account , representing the 1973
Craft Festival proCeeds, plus
interest.

AN OPEN LETTER
To Mr. Gordon Cayley, '
Bandmaster of the Lucknow
Concert Band.
Dear Mr. Cayley:
As parents of a band' member we
are taking ihis way of publicly
saying "thank you" •to you. You
have given so, freely of your time
and talent over the past years so
that our" daughters and sons have
the opportunity of participating 'in,
this entertaining and educational
activity..
So often we are all guilty of
sitting back tight-lipped and arms
folded when someone deserves our
support and credit for a very worth-
while athievement.
The recent band' tour proved,
what a brave, unassuming man
you are for how many of us, if •
any, would set out with over fifty
students to travel so many riffles'
in a short time and then arrive
home at the appointed time. This
schedule certainly took a great
deal of planning on your part and
much co-operation from many
people including all band mem-
bers.
This planning, practices, etc.
you do 99 1/2 10 on your own per-
sonal time while others are quiet-
ly sitting in front of their TV and
many complaining about the lack
of incentive and short comings of
our young people.
Mr. Cayley, you have won the
sincere respect and admiration, of
our student and on a Tuesday
evening you know that the home-
work will be completed in record -
time without the usual TV pro-
Dear Sir,
May I take this opportunity to
bring to the attention of your
'readers the necessity for good fire
prevention procedures in the
home.
How terrifying is the, sight of
flames licking at the walls of
your home! Doubly so if you real-
ize, as I did , that your home is
poorly insulated , that you save
too many magazines and papers,'
that you let boxes of unnecessary
things accumulate so that they
hinder access to rooms, etc.
Just a pile of old magazines,
a match and two or three thought-
less children is enough for a recipe
for potential fire. •
Please be sure, it isn't your
home, Mr. and Mrs. Everyone.
Yours truly,
M. Bere.

extra help preparing' dinner so that
by six-thirty all are ready for the
drive into Lucknow for band prac-,
tice. •
We are pleased to hear that the
LucknoW Concert Band is invited
to take part in the Reunion Cele-
brations for we often feel that
their talent is overlooked for a
band with a bigger name, but also
bigger price tag!
We sincerely hope that Lucknow
and communities will show their
thanks and appreciation to you
Mr. Cayley by giving their en ,-
coUragement and 100TO support to
you and the band.
Thank you Mr.' Cayle y for the
many pleasant and rewarding
hours that you have given Our
young people.
We wish you and your band con-
tinued success in future years.
Signed:
Grateful Parents,
bon and Marion Gillespie.

separate Craft Shows will operate
on Friday and Saturday,
August 2nd and 3rd.
The Lucknow Agricultural Soc-
iety has announced that it will
opdate the LticknoW Summer
Craft Festival in Lucknow on Aug-
ust 2nd and 3rd. -Glen Walden is'
president of the Agricultural Soc
iety, Russel Irvin is 1st .vice ,
Frank Alton is 2nd vice and Mr.
and Mrs. Ross Errington are secret
ary -treasurer . ,
Proceeds of all the Lucknow
Craft' Shows in the past three years
have gone to the Agricultural Soc-
iety.
A recent dispute on "ownership"
of the Craft Festival caused a split
in the Lucknow Agricultural Soc-
iety ranks and eventually, led to a
complete reorganization of the
society.
So now , as it stands, two Craft
Shows will be held on August
2nd and 3rd , one in Ripley and one
in Lucknow; one called 'the
LuCknow Craft Festival and one
the LucknoW Summer Craft
Festival.
